AnonD-252, 08 Sep 2011Bada is not good enough for users because it is only for Sa... moreThe problem is Android and MeeGO have different goals, even if they share same basis, Google isn't open at all, they goal is make money from other sources, even if Android license is free, they need to make money in other ways...

    For example Google search engine...

    1. Charge advertisers for presenting online "banner" ads to users
    2. Collect marketing data on consumer habits, then selling the data or using it for targeted advertising.
    3. Charging websites to become listed

Google makes money (and justifies giving away the OS) by licensing the Google Apps that come on most Android phones (but not all). Apps like Gmail, the Android Market, Google Search, and others come in something called GAPPS. The Market is really where Google is interested. Sure, the other GAPPS add value to the phone (hence why carriers license their inclusion on Android-powered phones), but Google is making money with every app sold through the Market.

Even free apps make Google money. Developers have to pay to have an account to list their apps under. Even ad-sponsored apps are likely using Google Mobile Ads, so Google's getting revenue from that source as well.

Then Linux isn't making any kind of profit, that's why Google and Linux can't be mixed. Both have different goals.

oh. BTW samsung has a meego netbook too. i hope more manufacturers will join meego in the future like samsung. I heard samsung is planning to take meego too. good news for meego fans.:)

The best for users would be if Android and MeeGo somehow could join forces, they are already very similar and based on Linux...

[deleted post]Because samsung IS plastic and from my experience NOT a longlasting one. I can guarantee a samsung device will not last 3 years if i'm using it. My nokia phones average=5 years under same conditions. Nobody is promoting for u to buy the n9, you yourself come to nokia thread. I dont go to the threads of the brands that i'm not interested in.

Let's see but I don't see MeeGO any time soon as ecosystem.

Need to be in more Phones, and for now, Samsung is happy with BADA and Android, they don't need MeeGO, since this can make conflicts with Android, and Google is the one behind Samsung suceed in making good phones with Android OS.

[deleted post]WP7 will be a complete and total failiure! It is too controlled by Microsoft and it is developed too slow...!
Android is good but if Samsung choose to start using MeeGo, and Android apps can be made to run on MeeGo and app-developers then simply only have too move their apps from Android Market to the new "MeeGo-Market", then I think MeeGo can become the dominant OS. Android have problems with the legal battles with Apple, but I do not think MeeGo have the same problems, and Android also have the problem of being too controlled by a single company, Google! MeeGo should be free and opensource and no company should be able to demand any special favors, like the demands Nokia had if they were to choose Android and the special favors Nokia now have with WP7! Nokia should have continued using Symbian and MeeGo, and their choice of WP7 is just another of many bad choices made by Nokia.

Can't wait! I'm gonna buy N9 for sure, hope to find a way to buy it online in toronto...

let's support meego, buy it to help make it strong, if all other stupid stubborn manufactures are just recongize android snap their face and wake them up, MEEGO has so much protential why waste it, there're not much choices in the market, I don't like ios, android is a copycat from all os even more boring, wp very ugly tiles ui + hard to use, symbian is getting back, but the 640x360 big turn off! let's give us a chance to taste something else! buy it if you like N9!

Gestapo, 07 Sep 2011Nokia Finland confirmes severa, firmware updates during the... more5000-55000 euro ? Are you high on weed ? Anyways, I have a feeling that this N9 will be a good phone with lots of potentials. It just depends on Nokia's support which sucks. Most of the Nokia phones are crap, even the N8-01 will be crap due to Nokia's poor OS and UI. SPB shell 3D on a 680 MHz phone looks quite superb, the UI, unlike Nokia's own UI. As I've said, it's the support. After waiting for decades Nokia provided me with Anna, still doesn't have split screen view for keyboard. They said it's a mistake and will fix it on the next software update. May be another decade lol. I wish the N9 a successful journey :)

At 6:05, the person doing the demo said "that's a little bit slow now" and the other person said "it's probably the firmware" and the N9 is shown lagging.

                                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=InPknKmtJyo&feature=related

There you go, the speedy N9 was shown lagging and it hasn't even been on extensive use. Give it a few weeks and wait for the user to put on more apps on it and it will lag even more for sure.

you guys who're falling for the whole "limited quantity" need to learn a thing or two about marketing techniques.
games like crysis 2 then nfs hot pursuit has "limited edition" written in all the boxes but, yet none of the store are out of stock till date! why? cause that's how they make fool of us.
nokia is no different. by saying the stock is limited, obviously every product has a limited stock, not like they're going to be making N9s for the rest of their lives, but implying that it is so "limited" that you might not get a unit if you don't pre-order already is just stupid!
& all you people who fell for it, i point my finger & laugh at your stupidity! :D
