AnonD-4697, 07 Sep 2011That's (from my point of view) will be the lifesaver for N9... moremeego can run android via alien Dalvik runtime. it is same thing that used for android phones to run android apps. that's why android sucks. it is a java virtual machine. see the first paragraph of the wikipedia( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Android_(operating_system) ) says Android runs on Alien dalvik machine. and so there will be no big difference on a meego phone or android phone by performance. but the problem will be android application runner is not a simple application that can be installed by users. it is bulit in to the core of the meego OS. so if the carriers or Nokia agree to do that, then we will have lucky to install android apps on meego, if not it can't. In this case if you are android apps lover you better to buy a android phone.

In fact I'm not agaist MeeGO I lready use an Nokia N9 and is cool!

But MeeGO needs more than just good wishes, is way far from being a full ecosystems, need more support, not just users in a "crusade" for meego. Is funny but NONE of those companies your mention has a power to develop MeeGO fully.

Even Acer or ASUS don't have ANY MEEGO DEVICE, and they prefer use WP7 and/or Android....So if they are involved, why they don't use MeeGO instead...???

The others don't worth the mention since some are just Linux distros, BMW is with Android in ther inboard systems and the others are just game developers...not big deal.

You need convince ALL MAJOR DEVELOPERS. Just like Google did.

But be real, Meego isn't Android, and Meego don't have the "back" of a powerful firm, and this is dangerous, can suffer the same fate of Symbian. Since MeeGO isn Apple, Google, Microsoft or even Blackberry.

In fact, Meego don't have money to get stand up and convince major Manufacturers to adopt it.

Samsung have some projects, but they have BADA. So, for them is just a nice option. but just that.!

AnonD-16241, 07 Sep 2011bullshit. meego had developers support from big companies.... moreOk if MeeGo has fully support why others don't joined already at Meego project?

MeeGO is not new hast some years in development but there is not 100% interes on make MeeGO OS a secnd option.

In fact only NOKIA look for MeeGO, there is a lot of promisses around BUT in the real world there is no more major manufacturers adopting MeeGO.

And in fact open source project is not good at all, Meego can suffer the same fate of Linux (and all distros) to convert in just a looong 3rd. OS around that not too many people adopt.

Nokia can support N9 entire lifetime.

BUT MeeGO don't have developers, so, there is no company that make any software for that OS. Intel give up MeeGO development, so now MeeGO es headless.

Not confuse Nokia support with MeeGO support.

Aaron, 07 Sep 2011People need to educate themselves that the Nokia N9 is not ... moreN9 is a Qt enabled device. As far as i know there are more than 300,000 Qt developers worldwide. http://www.telecoms.com/16735/nokia-brings-qt-to-symbian-maemo/
so any one who says N9 has no future, shut the hell up. Qt is a cross platform tool that you can write the code once and deploy to multiple platforms such a maemo, meego, android, symbian, linux distros, windows, mac, and now next billion of s40 series of Nokia.
N9 has meego harmattan, which is not at all meego.it is a combination of Maemo6 and some from meego but it has meego compatibility.
meego is linux, so even if Intel did reduce contributions to MeeGo, MeeGo is not Intel or Intel’s. It’s a open source project under the Linux Foundation. meego will as long as linux live, because it has a wide community support. Let me clarify you something too. Intel is not backing away meego. it was a lie that rumoured around Internet. GSmarena brought the news in some way that could confuse you. but to make it more clear just prefer this link. http://mynokiablog.com/2011/09/02/intel-backing-away-from-meego-intel-says-theyre-still-committed/
Intel response to rumor. " “”We remain committed to MeeGo and open source, and will continue to work with the community to help develop and meet the needs of customers and end users”
                                      CNET
                                      Why i buy N9?
                                      1. First of all it is full linux OS.
                                      2. It is Qt enabled. The community is currently working on useful Qt apps for meego harmattan.Thousands of Qt apps are already made for symbian, means later devs can deploy to meego with a little modification. Moreover N9 comes with loads of useful apps out of the box.
                                      3. It runs meego harmattan which is unique in the terms of ui and ux.
                                      4. Easy to use. Just a swipe away. Fast and smooth (Qt Qml powered which a light weight language in Qt)
                                      5. Design of the device is unique and beautiful that everyone agrees.
                                      6. For style and fashion/ show off./ To be special in the society.
                                      7. Camera.
                                      8. For browsing.
                                      9. To listen to music.
                                      10. never to sell it later, just own it forever. coz it is a beauty. :)
there are some other reasons too,
