Camera of the iPhone was best on i7+ but if you compare X with android flagship there was better cameras (Pixel 2 , Also with longer term) , Design is just preference thing, and ofc performance are on highest possible but,even with 1yo SoC you still can run everything smoothly so it isnt most important thing.... Overall phone is great but it doesn't justify the price, especially if u consider flexibility of android devices over apple, even i read somewhere that Oreo is more stable than iOS 11, i dont really know if it's true but i had to belive in conclusions from the reviewers :)

Every time I've looked to upgrade since, I've been put off by Apple's prices (I buy outright). The more I think about what those prices actually pay for though (hardware, OS development, long term support, privacy), the more reasonable they are starting to seem (excluding the X).

And look, you don't mind if your phone slow down? It's noticiable in day-to day use... but you mind if your phone is fast but dont have latest security patch? That's just nonsense...Most of users want no lag phone and dont care about OS... Even if it's iOS or Android users are happy to use their phones fast without glitching,freezing, wich happens on i6/+ and 6s/+ for now so we can expect iPhone 7 soon too... while for example Mate 9/Pro (same year production) have latest Android, runs everything smootly and dont freeze... So it's fair comparison bcs if we speak about apple, we speek about flagships right? you will not get iPhone mid-low end ever, even iPhone SE was overpriced with flagship specs but too small body,old design....

You said Apple OS updates slow their phones down (this happened once), to convince people to upgrade (they have a different stated reason which makes logical sense). I pointed out that Android makers on average stop supporting their phones with OS updates/security patches to convince people to upgrade instead. Most flagships are lucky to get 2 OS updates, and the term 'landfill android' was coined for the volume of low end models manufacturers were churning out (that arguably weren't even up to the task) that would never see a single update/patch. That a small fraction of the userbase is able to flash a custom rom is irrelevant.

As for a lower end, Mediatek SoC doesn't get updates ofc couse MTK doesn't release a source codes, as for a SD ones, in worst scenarios you will be able to install custom roms... But there are also Midrangers who have promised 2years of updates... (HTC U11 Lite,Mi A1 , Nokia 3,5,6,7,7+,Moto X4 , General Mobile and so on) so when you buy an android phone, you need to pay attention to software it uses and it's not hard to do... And for ppl who don't know almost anything about phones it's doesn't even matter, they usualy buy mid-low end or they are brandname sheeps ... in both scenarios they dont care about updates... But for example ... Redmi Pro stuck on 6.0 and it supports Split Screen wich is android 7.0 feature becouse of MIUI so number isn't that matter in that scenario, so support isn't best on the word but it still is good enough, Xiaomi has updated even 4yo devices to MIUI 9 and give users all features even if they are on 4.4 Kitkat.... So in some scenarios it really doesnt make a problem, while if you are die for update type of person you would never go with non-stock android...

Oreo has been out since August 2017, and 9 months later I'm still waiting for only my second promised update. Android fragmentation charts tell an even bleaker story, with the majority of phones are stuck on several years old versions. Many entry to mid-tier devices never receive a single update, and security patches are sporadic at best.

For example Facebook can't access my contacts, and most apps are forbidden from using the network, all of them don't have access to my device info (IMEI and such). There are tons of privacy settings that can help mitigate the insecurity of an old OS.
Plus, I have gesture navigation (read: no capacitive or navigation bar usage) years before xiaomi came up with it.

Anonymous, 16 May 2018I have a Samsung Galaxy S7; it launched on 6.0, was updated... moreso basicly you will have 3 years of updates, and not it's not google's fault, samsung puts custom ui on top and it is hard to develop to newer android, just like LG,Huawei,Xiaomi... While phones with stock or nearly stock Android gets updates faster, like Motorola,Nokia,Pixel,Sony, Android One devices... So you buy samsung and expect fast updates? Actually in Android world there are two different categories... Phones with custom UI = More features but, slower updates,more bugs,and bloatware. And phones with "Vanilla" Android = Fast updates, more secure data,no bugs but, it may miss some features like Face unlock,Equilaiser, Theme store,Private space... depends on version it uses. And you as a person who "needs a flagship" should know that ... So you shouldn't complain on your purchase if you didn't drop 700$ with no reason... but in that case you are just Brandname-sheep....

If they're actually releasing a 500$ iPhone, then yeah. Probably even more than that 220 million. Apple seems like such a good investment at this point but the insane market cap of almost a trillion makes it hard for me to invest.

Nothing connects to internet without me knowing. And I've got it disconnected entirely from Google services. I still feel more secure with it than the unrootable new phone which claims it knows what's best for me.

It will likely never get 8.1, never mind 9.x. There have been months long gaps in the security patches as well. Outdated Android is insecure Android; obsoleted long before the hardware shows its age. Mine is not an edge case, it is the norm, which is why Google keeps having to re-address this unresolved issue with the platform.

And my last flagship is S7 edge even without rubbish app its getting LAG its fact. So for now apple is better choice for me. I dont need those 2K 4K screen BS. I just need a device that not fragmented like android. Thx and have good day.
