My favorite version of Android is stock Kit Kat. The apps I use on it are all supported, I have used it the longest, and it also does not look bad. It is the Windows XP of Android. I do think the best looking Android was 3.0 Honeycomb. If I wanted to, I look for the clock on the Play store and get the wallpaper online, and there it is!

              (My daily driver: Android.
An iPhone, BBOS device, and WPOS.) thank god it's just two now, waiting for the day it'll be just ONE OS. (And you know which one I mean ;3)

Lightning McQueen, 27 May 2018In your dreams!!!! Android can't easily beat iOS. This will... moreMan android market share is rising very rapidly. And iOS interest is losing day by day. Also iOS isn't smooth anymore. It is full with bugs and issues. Performance is good but it is slowing down after each update. So I believe android can win.

Fuchsia is open source as well, with some closed sourced components (exactly like Android, but under a different license).

Fuchsia is able to run apps developed by Swift (used for iOS), has native Android App support and is built from the ground up by a new lightweight microkernel developed in-house by Google using mainly Rust (a modern replacement for C++).

One of the main selling points of Android is its customizability and it's the reason OEMs like Samsung keep using it, else OEMs will be heavily incentivised to develop their own OS such as Tizen. I expect Fuchsia to be the same unless it is offered as an alternative to Android (a replacement for Android One, a software experience tailored by Google).

Whatever it's called, hopefully it'll help keep users data safe by not extracting it in the first place.

I don't think I'm the only one who sees loads of app permi$$ion$ & go really you need acce$$ to everything, I always choose 'No' & go without.

In future Security is high on my list, maybe someone unbiased like GSM could tell us which OS is the most secure :)

It's because there there are still numbers of New comers iOS users that are starting to rise, well not rapidly, but gradually. Nevertheless, I still agreed your comment.

Google will be killing Android very soon for Fuchsia OS.

Google wants to Modularize OS with partitioning system through project treble and get Fuchsia onboard slowly to remove the Android from the equation and it's Linux core, GPLv2 Or introduce Play service components this way to Android, limiting the power of Android is their ultimate goal. To become the controller completely.

Google had hired around 300 engineers for project treble in modularizing Android OS and the groundwork has been laid. They will be very soon working on removing the "open source" component of Android and make Fuchsia a cross compatible operating system initially. Then pull the plug on Android.

This will start new smartphone war Apple iPhone's vs Google's Pixel (aka HTC, remember Google acquired HTC?). Atleast this is Google's vision for more $$$ and avoid lawsuits like Google vs Oracle lawsuit for use of Java on Android.

Never thought I'd be addicted to my S9 Samsung Experience Android 8.0... just can't use anything else right now... it's just perfect
