Samsung wants you to upgrade to a Galaxy S9 from your lagging iPhone

Old iPhone bad, new Galaxy good - that's basically the gist of its newest ad.

Nzi97, 17 May 2018Talking about benchmark is totally useless, day to day life... moreAndroid USED to be laggy pre-Lollipop.

And the main reason is because Android used Dalvik as runtime prior to Android 5.0. Android Runtime fixed such problem of lagginess in Android.

Of course, lag exists in quite a few Android phones because of how bloated their UI is *ehem* Samsung and LG *ehem*, not to mention adding too much bloatware. But if you use phones that use stock (Pixel and Nexus) or close to stock (Sony, and OnePlus for example) you'll find that lag is virtually non-existent.

Any android maker wants you to leave your laggy S8, because in one year it aged 3

Lol there are people who don't get the point of the ad? Some thick skulls they must have.

Comparing S9 to a 4 year old iPhone lol why not compare it to iPhone X or atleast iPhone 7 and samsung used to lag before S6 that phone was a huge step ahead of S5 is both hardware and software and she could also replace her iPhone old battery with a new one

AnonD-594740, 17 May 2018lolz Attack based on a 4 year old phone. I guess the S5... moreRight on point. My Xperia M2(which died on March this
year) , ran better on games and everyday use than my friend's S5, and my other friend's S6. Got surprised last year that it also run better on some instances than my brother's classmate's S7 Edge. These Samsungs also were almost unusable and I don't ever want to have a phone like that. That's why I never bought a Samsung before and not even planning to buy in the future.

I laughed too much at this commercial. The notch haircut made me flip.
I’m totally neutral for phones. Had Android and iPhone and each one has its pros and cons but one thing is certain. These aggressive commercials is just too funny.

I am in the same boat as the girl in the video, with an old iPhone and wanting to move on to Android, but definitely not Samsung, probably Xiaomi.

"Anyway, the video has a happy ending, with its protagonist having moved on to a Galaxy S9+, a device that in four years' time will definitely never ever lag, not in the slightest."

And won't even run the latest OS unlike with iPhones. This ad is just pathetic.

James Whister, 17 May 2018I know that samsung phones lag (I had one), but I also agre... moreJust out of curiosity what do you use your phone for? My friend has an iphone 6s and it still runs perfectly well. I know some of these phones had battery problems where Apple started slowing the phones down in order to conserve the battery. If you have one of those I would replace the battery at a way cheaper price first before spending a huge amount on a new phone.

Even so. Comparing a brand new flagship to an old phone just seems odd to me. On a year to year basis Apple phones are usually much faster. Even year older Apple phones beat the newest Qualcomm based flagships. Android has come a long way though. I think the limiting factor will always be the qualcomm chips even if android becomes more and more optimized. Apple just makes better chips. On top of that they optimize those chips for their OS as well.

Samsung has pretty decent chips too but their problem is that they haven't built their own OS from ground up for the chips. Apple has had years of optimizing one OS with all their chipsets. And of course even if Samsung's Tizen becomes a viable OS people will not want to miss out on the Google Apps.

it may sound silly but I think that Samsung should Partner with MS to build an Apple chip killer and optimize windows 10 for it. MS has an insane stockpile of money they can throw at R&D and they already do some pretty incredible stuff with their FPGA based chips.

They just need to make Windows 10 viable and attract developers.

...also the high end of samsung like the s8 and the predecessor lags some times...
that was according to some users and some reviewers too... and It's true because i witnessed that in s8 or s7 edge.. don't recall.... and no to mention to pack of bloatware they have, and the stupid bixby...etc well, Apple is also a big waste of money too...

I use S3 Lte 2012 and there are no lags, the Samsung does not do this shit, I do not see this. The phone's brains are certainly obsolete, but I'm convinced that the old apples are worse.
Apple fans, can continue to suffer and remain silent.

I'm running rocket with my XZ Premium and XZ2..... apple is a big waste, and sammy are so bloatwarry and some times it lags (according to many samy users reports, and reviewers)... so, both are crap.... but i'm giving a credit to the notch hair guy in the Ad! :D

And all android lag after 2 years is a big myth, a myth come from people who use only samsung android phone(which we android user agreed how bad the consistency of the software) and act like it the only android brand around, there are better brand out there that did better in this regard like sony, htc, xiaomi and pixel(used to be nexus)
Ask any these 4 brand owner, how long their phone survive without apparent stutter and lagging

I know that samsung phones lag (I had one), but I also agree with that girl in the video. Same thing happens with my 6s almost everytime, everyday. Thinking to move back to android (huawei or htc) and use 6s as secondary.

wasox, 17 May 2018Exactly !So I should buy a PHONE for 1000 dollars rather than spending it on a pc or something useful. A smartphone does all things in average. If you need a camera the buy a f*cking camera. If your so addicted to gaming and want to play EVERWHERE then buy a Nintendo Switch. And what even is mobile gaming pfff. "Oh wow my phone is so beautiful and I can stare at it my WHOLE F*CKING LIFE."

                                    $579 or something along that.

But your point is valid: they need sales, fast.

enjoy your bloated, sluggish, and lagged Samsung Experience then.

The iPhone's featured in the Samsung TV advert are mostly iPhone 6. The ad says that brand new Samsung Galaxy S9 has better performance than 4 years-old iPhone 6. Agreed, because new Galaxy S9 have worse performance than 3 years-old iPhone 6s in single core benchmarks, not to mention iPhone 7 or newer. Even after throttling, the iPhone 7 has better performance than brand new Galaxy S9 or S8, especially in gaming. Galaxy is no match for iPhone in gaming performance.

And Galaxy phone, and all other Android phone for that matter, tend to slow down and shutters after 2 years of use, even though I didn't any new update. That slow down of Galaxy after two years without any apparent reason is why I abandoned Galaxy and switched back to iPhone.
