How can you even dare to say that EIS is better than OIS?
There's no way in hell that's it better

JerryRig/Zack is a repairer with no training and no specific tools. You want to repair your phone get an authorized service center and not self-taught business major like JerryRig/Zack

Well i am glad i am a very good customer service advisor but not a mechanic.
Opening fixing and closing this to make it working would be really difficult for me.
I am not much into this miniature work.
      But Zac is pure professional.

Kangal, 20 May 2018True. But I also have the P20 Pro, plus more than a dozen ... moreI have to admit that you are right. Its a little from both. Not much to compare with and a huawei fan. But definetle not a Fanboy, as I have recommended Samsung(a brand I hate even before they start making smartphones, and will never buy samsung for myself) and Nokia phones to a lot of friends who are super happy with their phones. And also I almost dont take videos, 99% usage of camera is for still images and I guess stabilisation is more important for this.

And while the AI-Stabilisation is much better than the Standard-EIS, it still cannot match OIS.

So either the Anonymous person hasn't seen/compared it properly to other devices, or is being purposely deceptive in their praise (ie Fanboyism).

Flossy420, 19 May 2018Fanboyism at it's finest right hereI mean, I don't think he's being a fanboy, the guy or girl actually owns the phone, after all.

AI stabilisation is great and working better than most OIS phones, either for photos and fhd video. Only in 4k video there is no stabilisation at all. You can literaly shake the phone a lot and still get a great results even at long exposure photos. And I dont say that from youtube videos I have seen, I own the phone.

2.Zack "assumes" it doesn't have OIS cos he "assumes" that the movement is from focusing..
3.ifiixt have dissected the camera modules and they seem pretty confident that all 3 has OIS
4.I'd rather rely on the guys at ifixit who know their stuff than on guys whose knowledge is primarily in droping, bending, scratching and burning phones (they should just stick to what they are good at i think)

jan, 19 May 2018and 40mp is not 40mp its 10x4 = 40mp. not directly 40mpThe main hardware is 40MP, but 20MP is used for longer exposure while the other 20MP is for shorter exposure.
Still, the main hardware is 40MP since there are 40 million pixels in the sensor.

I wish Huawei uses GG5 next time on P series on the front and back so that it will be sturdy.

Well, aside the battery nighmare there is another BIG bad design.... if you look at that black thing below the rear camera modules... I've seen that thing lifted in other videos and it's a fine fabric! Yes!!! A thin black fabric together with the copper paper at the back of the cameras are the only things between the camera modules and the display, therefore, if you drop the phone the module-sensors of the cameras will always hit the display directly if the force is enough, even if only the back cover or the rear camera protector hits the surface because there isn't even screws fixing the modules, only a thin copper paper and the flexible connector if you look the video. LOL Beautiful and terrifying design for double repairs. Better buy a super thick case with airbags........
