Weekly poll: would you buy an HTC U12+?

27 May 2018
The U12+ has many strengths, but it launched late in the game. Many already upgraded their phone this year, also competing phones got cheaper.

          Already bought one, moving up from HTC 10 Evo

            I admit I won't be buying the u12 because it only has 64gb of storage when it should have 128gb like the U11 plus which is my daily driver so why would I drop half the storage for the u12.

            My U11 plus does everything I need it to without any issues and yeah the screen brightness in sunlight is not the best but I can cope with it but I bet one thing will happen with the u12 and that will be it's price will plummet in a very short time cos no one will buy it.

              It's nice, but too pricey for me.
              It's not that I can't afford a phone like that every year, it's just that for me to want to spend that much there needs to be really wicked innovation.

                  i wouldn't buy any 2018 "flagship" device, they are preety much the same as the last year, or you have to pay $300 extra for just dual camera (which is cool but not to pay that amount) or any useless feature. Or paying for a phone with cool features removed, no 3.5 mm jack, no radio or hybrid dual sim for example. i wouldn't buy htc u12+, galaxy s9/9+, lg v35/q7 or whatever

                    Kaswi, 28 May 2018I want to like HTC U12+ 1. Display isn't AMOLED 2. Dual... moreAgree, it's a solid performing attractive phone. Our business has been using HTC One A9s. To this day, they remain attractive, super performers, metal and good size. Love a new take on it and no to full glass grease pit backs.

                      Anonymous, 27 May 2018I've used Sony Z3 which works fine till now. Every company ... moreWhich proves my point :)
                      Z3 is not a midranger..

                      Back to the point, I was happy with HTC when they had windows mobile, they delivered something new, something special. Almost no touch phone came even close to HTC's, but that was in the HD2 days, after which came ther hero and other android phones, then Samsung and all the other ccompanies joined the android war and HTC couldn't keep up.

                      They need to compete, which means offering a compelling device, not an overpriced gadget when everyone else offers a better one for less.

                          Had a U11+. It wasn't a bad phone by any means, but I had quite a few qualms with it:

                          - Screen: super LCD definitely not as good as amoled, and they lied about HDR10 support;

                          - design / build: for a 18:9 aspect ratio it had quite a few bezel. It was a bit bulky and heavy. I have a S9+ now which has the same weight but it just feels like a much lighter phone;

                          - Software: huge nav bar, I could hide it in some apps but in others I couldn't. No way to change screen resolution. Sense home felt pretty dated.

                          - Battery: for a nearly 4000mah cell, it had fairly average battery life;

                          - Misc: there was basically no dev support due to being unpopular and only released in Europe / Asia.

                          For these reasons I don't think I'd buy the U12+

                              In past, when phone audio sucked, HTC was decent, but now in times when there are LG V30, G7, V20 and many others, HTC became subpar in this category.
                              Not good enough.

                                      No headphone jack. no buy.

                                        Too much for a HTC phone. In my experience from phone shop, most phones that comes to service are HTC phones with microphone problem, poor lcd quality (broken), software issue and so on. If you are paying over 500 e get and Iphone or Huawei.
