why buy a mid range phone? this is not a good idea, otherwise you can buy aged flagship for little price, you can buy galaxy s7 instead of the new galaxy s9 and you will worth it, it is better than any mid range phones for the same price, buy sony xz1 instead of sony xz2 and donnt waste your money on weak midrange phones

Also still using 2 year old oneplus 3 and - apart from the battery - it's as fast as it was then. It still feels as solid too. And thanks to the pixel camera it takes better fotos.

Where I live, it works the opposite. It’s better buy the flagship and sell it after a year, so you get back around 70%-80% of the original cost, creating a cheaper cycle.
The mid range no one wants, so it’s very hard to sell after a year.

just have a new flasgship every year (or every 6 monbths if you are with Sony). Problem solved

honestly 1 year old flagship is still better than new mid-ranger in almost everywhere. Problem? Battery. With the whole non-removable battery things means battery does degrade and drains faster.

Comparing (same brand) flagship to midranger..
Is S8 better than A8 (2018)? Yes when it is out of the box at the same time. If S8's been used for a year though..A8 would be better for battery but everything else s8 would be better still

                  Huawei p10 vs p20 lite
                  Sony XZ vs XA2

1 year old flagship still is better than midranger. Not like you get the newest software with android anyway unless you are on latest flagship

I usually buy a Flagship every three to four years, and a mid-ranger once in the while when I'm really seduced.

Anonymous, 27 May 2018but samsung's A series is a mid-ranger....He/she already said it's premium but not flagship phone. The Galaxy A series is a premium upper midrange level phone, LMAO.

Buy a lower mid range device. Curse the POS everyday. Buy another lower mid range device after 2 years. And repeat!

I'm content with last gen high end/new gen mid range phone for three years. Never buy into market trends. These companies have most of you by the balls.

Still very decent and unless you need modern bezell less design with bigger screen you dont need to change it. It will last a year more for me, then i might upgrade to S9 on a sale or next year a5 2019
