Shui8, 27 May 2018Havent heard kingroot? The apps root your phones without un... moreKingRoot has long been a source of controversy in the developer community, with allegations of malware baked into the rooting app. The purpose of the app is to act as a one-click-root solution for as many phones as possible. While the app does indeed successfully root a massive number of compatible devices, many users warn that you should not trust this app.

XDA Recognized Developer gatesjunior writes:

KingRoot now installs a ton of Adware on your device
KingRoot takes over your lock screen now and splatters ads on it
KingRoot’s Uninstall does NOT remove everything they have modified on your device SuperSU replace method does NOT remove everything they put on it either
KingRoot intentionally ads multiple binary files to your /system/bin folder that have nothing to do with their rooting method and are even back dating them to try and hide them
AVG has reported this and even warns of possible personal information gathering, that is NOT just a warning of rooting exploits
KingRoot has now included a Wifi option within their latest version under tools, what do you think they are gathering there ?”

The ease of unlocking the bootloader and flashing a custom rom is literally the primary reason I bought a Huawei. Guess I'm switching brands for my next phone.

Unlock boot... moresadly yes at least in my country(india) and maybe in US too. only in europe, EU laws do not allow that kind of game that the brands play. the website clearly mentions once bootloader unlocked warranty is voided and you get no support from them since that day until you pay. only xiaomi and one plus do not void warranty.

Removing features, hardware & or services is the WORST choice for anything ever made.

Consumers don't want something if it is deprived of something...

WHY IS THAT SO HARD TO COMPREHEND?

Weak hardware. Now stuck with locked bootloader. I was considering p20 pro if mi 8 is a failure. Waiting for Mi 8

This is why i will not buy another huawei phone. They make their phones extremely hard to impossible to unlock(which requires unlocking the bootloader) and/or root, not to mention if your phone crashes you get no help from them!!!!!!

One can always root the phone without unlock the bootloader, bare in mind for that differences... Unlock bootloader only useful so that u can use custom kernel and custom based rom.

As for me, emui is good enough, lots of customisation when people calls it with ugly icon (dude, there are hundreds huawei themes with many icons ui can be selected) really cant understand why people hates it. Also install nova launcher if u dont like it.

Yeah, i used to root and unlocked bootloader my previous older phones and plays with it, but not with emui, i rather stay with stock. And that triple camera setup, only stock huawei's rom can fully utilised it while custom or 3rd party app only uses the single rgb sensor. So yeah, go figure.

And how do you want to unlock the bootloader when Huawei shuts this service down?
