How nice of Samsung to offer 8GB of RAM and 512GB internal storage for a phablet costing $1,000+++. What better way to maximize profits by using the same puny 3300mAh sealed battery in the Note 8 so that the ultra expensive phone dies faster than you are able to use even just 1/4 of the internal storage or utilize even just half of the superfluous RAM.

No futureproofing? Outdated, indifferent, unamusing, and nothing new SOLELY IN TERMS of RAM and ROM storage. How about 10-12 GB RAM and 1TB (believe me, this is possible!) ROM at less than $1,000 (if they can because, yeah, the aforementioned specs at this price is relatively NEW)?

Kiyasuriin, 28 May 2018you've really hadn't experienced samsung lately. didn't you... moreI used Note 8 with so called samsung skin. it takes around 2-3 sec (yeah) to open a app when you tap on notification. try now - see yourself. Same i saw with s8(not mine).
And penup for drawing - its not at all productive app if user is not a artist. for most of users its a time-pass app. And its not one of the finest.
Samsung notes is basic productive app you can say.
btw I really like Note 8 screen - but all my productive apps are on macbook not on my phone :-)

Kiyasuriin, 28 May 2018hahahah that is the truth. well now i dont even use my desktop or laptop except for typing document + printing and configure my router (my desktop since 2004 have pentium 4 and 1 gb ram while my laptop since 2013 is acer v5-571pg intel i7, 8gb ram, nvidia 710m)
play music and video? i use smartphone. streaming and browsing? i use smartphone. sent email and do business stuff? i use smartphone. online shop and social media? i use smartphone. play games? i use smartphone (mobile game in iphone 6s and emulator in oneplus 3t like gba, psone and psp games). opening deep web? i use smartphone. taking photo and video? i use smartphone. And not mention about how portable these device compare something like laptop or tablet and other device, i can do all that with my smartphone in toilet while taking poop :)
if 8gb ram and 512gb storage is real then samsung note 9 will be my next device to replace my aging note 3 that i keep in my drawer + i like stylus pen from gal note series and i want to try samsung dex feature

and you need to learn there's something called reaction time. NOTHING is 100% immediate.
it takes time for that tap to be processed. (and it's as little as around 600 microseconds in case of samsung. a "perfectly optimised" skin of android can run it in just 500 microsecond. but we know there's no such thing. (just for a comparation. a stock android has a reaction time of about 592microsecond. the heavier the skin. the more time it takes.)
(just so you'll understand how fast is a microsecond. its: 0.000001s)

It stands for Read Only Memory and typically would correspond to firmware on a motherboard. Yes, I'm really old, but if we don't use the right terms, who will?! Storage is a good term for what you mean, ROM is just wrong. :-)
