You are going to see zero deifference between Android versions when it comes to miui. They even update the security patches so why do you even care about Android updates? I think people are just complaining for no reason. Xiaomi is doing a fantastic job updating thier old phones so give them a break. Most companies ditch thier flagships in two years! (Including Google themselves)

I find Xiaomi's, err, updating choices RIDICULOUS to say the least.
For instance, my brother's Mi 5S and mother's Redmi Note 4 are both running MIUI 9.5.2. But the 5S with the SUPERIOR Snapdragon 821 is still stuck on 7.0, while the Redmi with the slower 625 is on 7.1.1.
They're cheating when they update the MIUI version but NOT the Android version.

That actually costs money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but buying a new phone is better for the company than giving people a reason to keep their old ones.

Although I'd wish to see them upgrade the OS more, upgrading UI for old devices is always welcome and appreciated- it means a whole team dedicated time and effort to make a UI made for a new android compatible with older ones.
Nice job xiaomi :)

love, 31 May 2018This is why I like Xiaomi a lot. Phones are always updated. Well, what they update is only the miui, which is their service, something that give them money, not android itself, so there's that
But it's better than not having anything at all right

I've try everything from looking some tips & tricks on the internet, using game speed booster or even messing around with developer option but none of them really works.

FYI when i'm still using MIUI based on Android Lollipop i don't get these problems they don't disable the 57 cores and the only time my MI4C gets heat up is when i play games for more than 30 minutes and i never got any forced close.

Arif238, 31 May 2018Xiaomi doesn't bump up the android version for older device... moreXiaomi = MIUI. Regardless the base Android version, most features are the same. Sometimes they're stuck on base Android version capability (like Dual Apps and Second Space not available for KitKat), but it doesn't happen often. Whenever possible, they eventually upgrade the base version anyway. Everything should be better when Oreo with proper treble support (partition A & B) is the least supported base version since in theory, base version upgrade should simply be a source code drop-in.

Arif238, 31 May 2018Xiaomi doesn't bump up the android version for older device... moreOnly for those that are still viable to be upgraded in OS version, that is.
Even if not, the MIUI features would still be implemented even for older versions of Android OS.
Redmi Note 3 with Android Nougat is running the same exact MIUI 9 version as the one found on the Mi Mix 2s with Android Oreo. Everything in MIUI 9 is present on that phone, nothing is missing at all.
Usually, on other OEMs, when the OS upgrade stops, even the launcher updates would bring little to no difference at all, until to the endpoint of absolutely no more updates.
