The point of this phone is not to sell 300 million units, it's to get their brand name out there, get them talked about, and have Vivo associated with a flagship device rather than just mid-range phones.

In recent years we are experiencing the future of innovation in Phone technology, Everyone demand a big screen but, to some people the overall size of phone become the main concern for one hand use. so, they prefer compact devices. In smaller screen you can't experience your content best, you can't get much room to run multiple task at once. And the most importantly, the viewing experience you got in all screen display is mostly better then conventional 16:9 screen size. It creates an illusion, makes your content amazing to look.
I support all screen size display 100% body to display ratio camera and all sensors will be under the display . Let's live the future.

Few retailers would want to waste investment or space on a phone they'd struggle to sell. That's why the price matters. If they won't even get it into the shops it really won't be available anywhere.

Vivo NEX for $1000??? Are you kidding me? Vivo is still a very small company, mostly unheard of globally since they don't sell or promote in europe or western markets, they should consider lowering the price tag. They're expectation are so high, as if they want to compete big boys like Apple and Samsung.

It's not gonna live up to their dramatic ads.

Luxor, 03 Jun 2018But it doesnt habe UD fingerprint sensor and periscope camera. But it uses ceramic which is much more elegant than glass or whatever, plus a few other goodies like wireless charging. Then there is the Mi 8. And both of them available from physical shops in Europe hence the physical support and spares of course. Plus the big community over at xda.
To summarize, selling an almost unknown brand with dubious support and build quality at this price level, is crazy, no matter how advanced it is. Look at cars: The BMW i8 came out with much more futuristic technology that a Ferrari, and almost the same performance. Did it ever get anywhere near the stallion's pricetag either new or used? No way, even though BMW is still a known brand with support and quality. Had they priced it at the same level, they wouldn't have sold not a single one I think.

Geric.770, 03 Jun 2018Yup. Their software doesn't live up for this high price! It's not the software I'm talking about it's the non-existent knowledge of the brands. As far as I've heard the Lenovo one will have an unskinned Android on the international version. I'm expecting Vivo to do the same. That won't fix the fact that no one has heard of them, but it will at least not make it harder to sell. :)
Picking between a 1,000 euro Vivo and a 1,000 euro Samsung, consumers will most likely not even bother looking at what a Vivo is. This really has nothing to do with the brands being Chinese but all brand recognition. The same thing would happen if Vizio would open shop in Europe. No one would recognise it so if they'd start out by trying to sell a telly in the high end tier it just won't sell.

Price is killing this device @$1100. You also have consider the horrible resale value compared to established brands in this segment. So the real cost of buying this device is probably 30-50% more than an iphonex. 2x higher than an s9 and 3x higher than the p20pro. And that is not even taking into account the benefit of local support and service centers for established brands. $700-900 would be the price range if they want this to actually sell in numbers.

Is vivo stupid enough to not realise that only one brand in the world have the sheeps necessary to sell a 1k+ priced phone?
Because humans don't spend this much on a mobile device

Oh worry not. All 3 shall pack in sub 4000mAh batts with questionable sys optimization, "class leading" UI that's also named a'la adult toy FunTouch and will be immensely lucky to even get 2 Android base updates in a lifecycle.
