According to the worldwide survey, 89% of iPhone users report that they will purchase another iPhone.
http://www.macrumors.com/2011/09/22/iphone-users-demonstrate-strong-loyalty-with-planned-retention-rate-of-89/
But this is the interesting part: "Android as a whole has a planned retention rate of about 55% according to the survey, indicating that while many current users of Android handsets are planning to switch manufacturers, a fair number of them do intend to stay with Android. But 31% of surveyed Android users report intending to switch to the iPhone for their next device, with over 50% of the total "switchers" planning to move to Apple from another manufacturer as only about 10% of switchers are moving away from Apple."
Apple is getting a lot of new customers from unhappy android users.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2011Finally, you admit that iphone as a device sucks. Took you... more"the android marketpkace has passed the apple app store in total apps"
No it hasn't
In july android market has 250 000 apps, later info cant found.
In may appstore has 500 000 apps, later info cant found.
android market has last december 200 000 apps.
iPhone had 300 000 apps last october. So you can see how much faster appstore is growing lately.

Anonymous, 22 Sep 2011Finally, you admit that iphone as a device sucks. Took you... moreIt doesn't suck, but specwise you don't buy iPhone. Believe what you want, but android market is far behind of appstore if we talk about quality and it's not only for games, it's quality apps too. I'v said it many times if you want everything interesting and new for your phone choose iPhone because all the good stuffs comes for iPhone first and later for android or never.
And for now it looks like android market getting worse, app piracy and fragmentation is killing the android market, new apps for market has slowed down a lot.

Gave my iPhone 4 to my mom and got myself a galaxy S2. Samsung has surprisingly built a decent phone even for apple fans like myself. However the iPhone 5 could be a game changer and we are all waiting with baited breath...should I start thinking about selling my week old sgs2???

AnonD-1825, 22 Sep 2011And then there's android freaks like you who buy new phone ... moreFinally, you admit that iphone as a device sucks. Took you a while. Now, as for your developers argument, the android marketpkace has passed the apple app store in total apps. This is irrelevant to most as only a few apps are downloaded regularly. Any good app is available on all platforms. Iphone leads in games. But, on a 3.5 or 3.7 inch screen is for children.

Different preferences for different people.
Android is a great OS too, but my preference is currently with iOS as it suits my needs perfect for now. Apps wise both sides are good, but games wise iOS is still noticeably ahead.

kunalkj, 22 Sep 2011i m bit confused whether to go for a samsung galaxy s2 or t... moredon't see no reason why anyone should want to have iOS on the gS2.
i'd rather would want android for my iPad ..
nobody using both O/S would consider iOS4 anything better.
there are just some games left, that i don't really desperately need, compared lots of things i miss, when going from my android-phone to the iPad.
the reason for an iPhone ist the cool design (i really like it) and not the hardware or software.

I for one am excited at the possibilities. iPad 2 A5 benchmarks has it scoring double the performance of SGS2, so regardless, of the actual speed, it will be fast enough anyway.
Everyone is free to choose what they like. As for me, I love gaming on my iPhone, and with AirPlay mirroring with an Apple TV, the iPhone 5 will also happen to be a games console in my pocket :)
