It's an Android phone man. Who cares about bloatware or carrier lock. It is fundamental for every Android user to mod their phones to their liking.

big head, 22 Sep 2011$199.99!!! i got mine (sim free) for free on £35 a mo... moreIf you do the math..
You->18*35=630 pounds
American->15*24+199.99=559.99 dollars
If you take into consideration the pound-dollar exchange rate you'll see that you will pay 963.9 in dollars at the end of the 18m. You're paying almost double on contract than no contract price in the US.
You should be paying a max of 366 pounds just to be even with the american price.
Makes you think, doesnt'it..?! :)
p.s. i'm not american

EdB, 22 Sep 2011I don't think so. Apple doesn't have to jump through hoops ... moreThe carriers DO make the demands. The iPhone was an exception to the rule because of two reasons.
First, the iPhone started out as an exclusive for AT&T. Everyone knew that if you had an iPhone it was from AT&T. The carrier also didn't need to try and fill the phone with AT&T branded apps because they didn't have to compete with other carriers who had the same phone and try to make their version better. There was ONLY their version. They didn't need to modify the iPhone to make them stand out from the other carriers because simply having the iPhone itself is what made them stand out.
In addition, unlike other phones there simply wasn't any direct competition. With the GS2 there are alternatives. HTC, Motorola and other companies make alternative Android phones with similar specs. The GS2 may be better but it's nowhere near as unique as an Apple phone. If Samsung wasn't willing to make carrier specific versions than the carriers would simply go with a manufacturer who would. The carrier would still sell phones but Samsung would be left out in the cold. The carrier has all the power. Do it their way or they don't sell your device and you have no market in the USA. With the iPhone however there was no alternative so Apple had the power. The carrier could get the iPhone on Apples terms or they didn't get the iPhone at all.

Everyone! US Market version S2 is NOTHING compared to Asian Market version of S2! It's all the US Carrier's fault! Don't blame Samsung if you don't like the changes. Galaxy S2 is th BEST phone so far, I DITCHED iphone 4 it n BEST CHOICE EVER!.

AnonD-23131, 22 Sep 2011Guys I have doubt. I am not from the US n waiting for the... moreno it wont. cause the version or att and tmobile have different frequency they catch. if you know the ones in your town then look up the att model or tmobile and make sure it has the ones you need for your town. they both have verything the same but att runs of a signal of 1900mhz and tmobile runs of 1700mhz but they dont have both. most universal phone have both with work almost everywere.

"It is the fault of Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile who insisted on having their own specific versions with different hardware, carrier logos and carrier apps (and then the carrier testing to make sure all the changes they demanded work correctly on their networks)." agree with previous comments. AT&T - are you going to be the next General Motors and need bail out money from the fed????
