Apple doesn't have to jump through hoops with bloat ware and different modifications. I think you're assuming it's the carriers making these demands & not Samsung choosing to delay the release. The only demand I'm aware of is for T-Mobile's processor so that it support its 42mbps. This is why T-Mobiles is coming out later.

LOL, I would love to work at AT&T, it looks like it don`t take a lot of brains to get such job, because even in Latvia we have this phone or 0 USD, on 24 month contract, with monthly payment which is about 30 USD and it is so even if your monthly phone bill dosn`t exceed few USD.

Anyway, this offer realy dosn`t make a god dam sense :)

EdB, 22 Sep 2011Samsung: Horrible marketing. Isn't the Nexus coming soon? I... moreIt isn't the fault of Samsung. It is the fault of Sprint, AT&T and T-Mobile who insisted on having their own specific versions with different hardware, carrier logos and carrier apps (and then the carrier testing to make sure all the changes they demanded work correctly on their networks). Unfortunately, Samsung and the other manufacturers only have so much power because if they don't agree to make these carrier versions and do what the carrier wants then that carrier can simply stop selling devices from that manufacturer and only use devices from competing manufacturers.

lol $199. Once again the American mobile market shows how behind it is.

These things are $0 on 24 month contracts here in Australia. As long as that monthly commitment is around $60/mo or higher, depending on calling/data requirements. $90/mo will just get you unlimited service. Paying uo-front money for contracted phones is absurd.

Non-subsidised is not always just for mid-contracted people either - it's so you can buy the phone and then use a reseller simcard (Or virtual operator - MVNO), which can start as low as $5/month without contract for a tiny but of data and calls included. But I guess the US doesn't offer such things like that either.

Samsung: Horrible marketing. Isn't the Nexus coming soon? Isn't the Note coming soon? Sammie could've release this phone 6 months ago w/o iPhone 5 rival, w/o Note rival, w/o Nexus rival. Instead, Sammie won't realize the full sales potential of any of those devices. Poor marketing, Samsung. You're creating buyer's remorse. Let a flagship be the flagship for at least 6 months.
