All their budget phones get superior hardware and frequent MIUI updates compared to the competition. Android versions don't matter much under MIUI. If you want fast updates buy flagship phone.

xiaomi is fooling us in the name of android one. It is their pseudo policy to sell mobile Phones. In deed Android one is the biggest joke that we have seen.I will prefer other brand because which are seroious for their costumer.Like Nokia sony Htc or even Asus

And in hope with project treble i will get more updates, but that was not a reason i bough it. The reason was more of the 172 euro price and SD636 as i had MTK6750 before that was pretty bad.

So much for being Android one phone ,I don't think it will get 8.1 until 2019

Wtf ,way too slow for android one phone.
Google should take care of os update just like first genration android one.

Andy, 15 Jun 2018Something is wrong with this so-called "android one" phone.... moreNo Google doesn't deliver any updates only their own pixels line. Android one just means stock Android but still needs to be tweaked by the manufacturers. Project treble reduces the number of people the software update needs to go through, example before project treble, Google release a new OS update, the component manufacturers add their code, the phone manufacturer then adds theirs, the carrier then adds then it gets OTA

Andy, 15 Jun 2018Something is wrong with this so-called "android one" phone.... moreno, android one doesnt work that way, google delivers software to oems and that they roll it to the users. anyway dont know what is a big deal hear, and what is so special about 8.1, mayor update is 8, and they released it among the first companies and thats it. on the "other xiaomi phones" subject, they were released with oreo, so they are treble compatible, and its very easy for them to get next update ei 8.1, but A1 started with 7.1.2 so it is not the case with this device.

It's very slow to receive 8.1 considering it's suppose to be Android one device. Isn't that the point of Android one?
