Sony Xperia XZ2 Premium sample photos pop up

A Chinese media was able to snatch a working pre-production sample and has published photo samples.

XZ2 Premium is agressively oversharpening the photos while applying minimal color noise reduction, leading to splotchy color dots, strong ringing around edges and sharpening artifacts across the frame in any lighting conditions. Though the funniest part is that they are destroying the textures rather than maintaining them. I'd rather have a bit plasticky but much cleaner and detailed photos of P20 Pro.
    And almost forgot to mention, the fake bokeh looks horrible to me.

      Excellent. Now wait till Sony's software department spoils the algorithms to make it a crappy Camera. This has happened before.

        but.. that's not enough to win the competition.

        with this kind of ugly thick fat slippery design, people won't buy it.

                Now thats impressive Sony! Normal XZ2 has improved their camera algorithm but this is next level!

                Sony's implementation of rgb+monochrome is different from Huawei's software technology as both sensor in Sony fused in Aube chipset. It works, it just works even without OIS.

                Samples for video recording also out in youtube and the low lights recording blow others out of the water.

                I'll still stick to my Huawei's phone as the XZ2 design was not my taste. Maybe next Xperia design turn me back to Sony.

                    Did we just forget the fact that these photos were downscaled to mere 3MP resolution??
                    I don't believe those images to be pure 19MP. Quite obvious, because even 5MP shots don't look that pixelated at all.

                    Oh yeah, these shots were also taken a month ago, meaning the software was probably improved a lot at this point of time.

                      The night shots are awesome, there is some noise (classic Sony) but the amount of detail is excellent for a smartphone!

                        Geric.770, 19 Jun 2018Excellent shots! New sensors?The camera 1 is monochrome. This sensor is derivated from imx380 ( 1/2.3", 7.81mm, 1.55 micron).

                        The camera 2 is the imx400 from last year flagships ( 1/2.3", 7.73mm , 1.22 micron)

                        New G Lenses, now are 7. Other Xperia use 6.
                        25mm for both cameras, f1.6 on black/white and f1.8 on rgb

                        Monochrome can catch up to 3x the amount of light compared to rgb.

                          Holy cow!! Step aside pixel, the king is here.

                            Your crappy phone are not good in detail and zoom @night.

                              Very important not to post full size photos too soon as pixel peepers would immediately scratch this model off from their next-phone list. It's really rare for Sony to release a phone with a good camera! Gone are the days of Cybershot.
