    Hey guys, it isn't up to Google to support NFC payments, but the bus companies themselves. Plymouth(not officially on the list) is having this contactless payments in use for at least 8 months. Before mentioning Google, think of the other companies being able to handle contactless payments... Just saying 😉😉

      My bank already has a payment app. And it behaves like a native debit or credit card. I don't need Google's stuff to pay. Plus, it's just another way for Google to hoard what and where you buy stuff. NOPE

        From Android Pay to Google Pay.
        Google is taking over everything.

          Pro tip: don't let the biggest information-harvesting company in the world handle your money. You just give them one more way of profiling you.

          Visa and Mastercard are bad enough. Shops and banks should reject Google, as yet another American company having their tentacles in the finances of a country and its citizens.

            I do see more banks using QR-codes for direct payments. Besides with today's technology credit transfers should be fast enough so you don't need yet another 3rd party payment system.

            I'd rather have me IR-blaster back again.

              In the mean time most other banks are using QR-codes for direct payments. By the time Google Pay (or whatever it's called) is available in my country it'll just be a headline in newspapers or tech-websites but never to be used by the general public.

              IMHO Google is loosing it. All they did in recent years is designing new (fugly) icons and changed themes from predominantly black to predominantly white. Only designs (aka fluff) but no substance. And phone innovations have gone backwards. Instead of actually making phones better with more features we get less features with each iteration.

              The heydays were in 2014. When phones had IR-blasters, headphone jacks, user-replaceble batteries, micro-SD-card extensions, multi-coloured notification LEDs and screens were getting a perfect match of being pocketable and having high resolution.

              I would love to have a phone like that with modern camera's, performance and max. 5.5" screens. Even the price of a flagship phone was acceptable back then.

              But nowadays... I'm not gone pay +900 bucks for a phone that has no notification LED, no IR-blaster, no headphone jack. In fact for 900 bucks I'd expect 2 headphone jacks + micro-HDMI-port + optical audio-out + high quality headphones + audio lead (jack to cinch) + microfiber screen cleaning cloth + nice bumper-case or nice leather cover... and a goddamn manual!

                Its still not possible to pay bus and tram tickets wireless OR with cash or credit cards in most german cities. I would prefer this instead of discount-supermarkets. Let's hope nfc payments will spread to public transport soon.
