Weekly poll results: the Oppo Find X proves that fans love innovation

01 July 2018
We tried to start a fight between the Find X and the vivo NEX S, but the Oppo triumphed easily.

Inverted snowhuouV, 01 Jul 2018Same can be said to your USB port argument; but since Oppo ... moreI didn't say his argument wasn't valid. I only said that it's not solid enough to defy another argument. And that is because I worry that it can easily be reckoned by others and end up for him/her getting bashed, so I decided to do it instead but in a less harsh way, just so he/she can realize this and make a better statement.
I don't like to dig things too deep, so let me end such a discussion here, since I also want to clarify that I'm not picking any unwanted fights here.

Apple are successful because they don't venture down these silly roads. It's easy to innovate. A dog turd on a piece of a bread is innovation, technically. A sliding mechanism that goes off 20-30 times a day (minimum)? HAHAHA

I like Oppo Find X, but I'm not totally sold to its moving mechanism. I can tolerate it, if it only needs to move up and down when taking pictures with either front or rear camera/s, but not, if it needs to move up and down everytime I unlock my phone. In my opinion, Oppo should have better gone for an under the display fingerprint scanner than 3D facial scanner, but that's just me..

I think this kind of poll is entirely useless, voters whether they know this device or not, mostly would going well-received and then shows a happy-end results.

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2018IPhone X' notch isn't unnecessary. It carries whole kinect ... moreYou realise the Find X has the EXACT SAME tech (i.e. "Mini Kinect Camera") inside the motorised part? Do some research before making yourself look stupid.

abigfanoftechs, 01 Jul 2018How many times can you charge & discharge LiPo battery ... moreExcept in that case, we don't really have any other better or as good option, and making a better one would require lots of money, and that is for just one thing we aren't sure if will be successful or not.

I definitely like this idea of a bezel less phone instead of a notch, but your defying argument doesn't have any solid ground to defend your side.

Still not a big fan of the idea, but I'd definitely go for this over embracing a notch any time of a nanosecond.
Notch was cool, until it went overboard and became a mainstream icon just because one had the courage to do it.
Glad enough that headphone jacks are still alive on most mid range and budget phones. They're actually more immune to it than a notch.

Winston, 01 Jul 2018OK, i'm racist then. Now, how long will this mechanism surv... moreTake it like a USB port on a phone. I'm sure that a USB port will be used more frequently than a front camera, yet there are phones that continue to have a perfectly fine one.
Even if you use the front camera more often, it still wouldn't be able to break that easily, since it is a controlled mechanism instead of a detachable wear-and-tear hardware.

Anonymous, 01 Jul 2018IPhone X' notch isn't unnecessary. It carries whole kinect ... moreBy the same logic that the camera can be hidden away, so too could all of the iPhone X's Face ID sensors.

However, having the whole unit move up and down every time you want to unlock your phone or take a photo is probably not going to be acceptable to the mass market.

Especially at the cost increase that is evident here.

We have had gimmick camera implementations before back in the flip phone era and those implementations whilst also receiving similar 'hey isn't that cool, why doesn't everyone do this' sentiment never took off because it isn't practical.

Mass market never accepts a faff solution, it is the same reason everyone's kitchen is full of gadgets that never get used beyond their initial 'hey, cool' period.

But we still use this battery tech.

Your "chinesium" racist remark is telling though.

Really?! Who the hell dont like this phone. It's amazing in all things and i think all manufacturers will make phones like this because there are only 2 ways to have camera for selfies and an entire body screen. They will choose a phone like this with that bump or they will make an second screen on the back. To be serious, the notch its ugly and its unnecesarly.

Even the heavy, brass and steel mechanisms are failing. How long will this mechanism, made from who knows what (chinesium?), work, if you have to open and close it every time you talk, every time you take a photo, every time you unlock the phone with your face, every time you need any of the sensors?
On the other hand, for someone like me, who never made a "selfie", the Vivo is much more interesting, cos there's no chance the camera mechanism to fail, as it would never be opened.
But never mind, that's just my opinion.
