Better than my Redmi 5 Plus, which is still unlikely to officially receive the update

So V20 owners will have to wait almost 2 years from launch for a significant software update?

AnonD-558092, 30 Jun 2018Surprised they'll update the V20 after they simply dropped ... moreThey actually supported the V10 well. It did get 2 major upgrades. It launched with Lollipop and got upgraded to Nougat. Where they dropped the ball was the G4. That flagship is still stuck on Marshmallow in the US, despite being mostly the same internally as the V10 which did get Nougat.

Well at least we know it's likely coming. I swear, I may jump ship from LG. They don't offer replaceable batteries anymore, which is the only reason I have stuck with them. Now that updates are taking almost a year after release to arrive -- Oreo was released on August 21, 2017 -- and we still may not have Oreo on the V20 by that date in 2018, I see no reason to stay "Team LG". Samsung is offering Oreo to the S7 family as we speak. That phone is a good 6 months older than the V20, yet it is getting updated before the V20 by several months. It's crazy to me that LG is so far behind everyone this cycle. LG can only compete on price now, and that's mostly do to poor resale value. When I upgrade in a few months, I'm likely to go S8+ over V30. It will be better supported from what I have seen so far from LG. Both the S8+ and V30 are frequently under $400 used now, so I am itching to upgrade. I think the only way I stay LG is if I get a ridiculous price, and even then, I may still go Samsung. After sale support does matter. LG has been struggling since they failed to deliver Nougat worldwide for the G4.

I’ll wait till may 2019 to let LG work out all the inevitable boot loop problems coming with this update.
