The Mi 8 is definitely built poorly in terms of thermal management, but since the manufacturer is always right, the blame is to put on us customers, and we don't have the right to tell what is true *insert sarcasm*

For all those who think we arrived 810 Era. chill
It's the limit that was set too low.
If it was really the chipset's fault, why other phones hadn't suffered from the issue? Think about it.

There was a similar problem with the tested P20 that overheated.
I own a P20 an do not experience these issues in Geekbench for exemple.

Did you ever testing your mi8 after you run heavy multi tasking from half an hour till one hour then you testing benchmark. I really want to buy mi8 but I'm afraid the thermal will too hot like the old sd 810. Or the worst it could be burning like galnote7.

Ever since China stopped allowing RMAs with batteries there is no way to get them to fix your phone.

I really like Chinese devices, but if this device does not have proper thermal management, it is a failure.

One plus and oppo are known to over clock their socs. You remember their benchmark cheating tool? They do commercial deals with some game companies that uses that overclock mechanism.

again after seeing this review i tried on my mi8 , after 15 minutes of stress test antutu gets to 262K from 268k other than that i see no problem. i think gsm arena is getting faulty device , its better to get new and check it.

You can disable MIUI optimization in developer options to get higher benchmark ratings.

Shanti Dope, 02 Jul 2018Please don't tell me we are going back to the Snapdragon 810 daysMaybe it will for XIAOMI if they don't do something about it. SNAPDRAGON 845 won't be as disastrous as the SNAPDRAGON 810, unless the brand's thermal limit or thermal cooling is not good enough for the chipset. I'm pretty surprised though, 5 mins and thermal throttling comes in, pretty rare for a 2018 high-end flagship, it is normal when I see my Z series high-end flagships to do so but definitely not on my X series high-end flagship, as expected. If it is a software issue XIAOMI would probably want to take note of that
