Prometheous, 08 Jul 2018Calm down pal. And dont be ashamed of such trivial things. ... moreKnowing about the tech they are paying for is the work of a smart consumer. If consumers realise .. it can bring changes given the country has huge population. A network operator stomped all others just by responding to consumers and drastically changed " data availability " in india

I'm not from JNU but you surely carry a large chip on your shoulder of being a Bhakt who simply enjoys inciting others in the name of country men's wealth.Last but not the least , don't change your name ANON D , coz we all know what D stands for !!

Another thing, "You & some other fellow Indians get so easily worked up whenever our purchasing power is discussed" , cuz ppl like u underestimate indian's wealth, its our duty to change their mindset. N u really want to buy s9+ then u can grab it over oppo find x...but dont comment in such a manner that all indians are waiting for 10k phone , no one here is interested in ur opinions regarding ur imaginary purchase...so from this blog u learn something new about ur own country which will definately help u while commenting in another blogs...
N one more thing, change that gauri name, cuz u r not worth for it...

Besides, yes good phones are in demand across the world. If only you could explain this to a guy 2 comments below who's blind hater of xiaomi, i'd be grateful for that and secondly, even the McD attendee here in upstate NY has iphone x, so I don't think that indian purchasing pattern is applicable throughout. Almost any guy in US working on minimum wage for 10 hours /day can afford iphone x on contract with day's salary which isn't true for india, otherwise yes good phone is a good phone regardless of brand as long as they bother to update their phones..

Neither i am aware about your political lineage nor i intend to dissect it over mobile forum. You & some other fellow Indians get so easily worked up whenever our purchasing power is discussed, whatever mobile purchasing trend is going around in India also reflects mobile scene of other countries.
We Indians are smart but so are Chinese ,Americans & rest of the world !
We love well built $200-250 phones with stable os updates , so do people from other countries ( whether they buy over contract or unlocked it's their prerogative)
If we are ever planning to splurge 750 dollars over a phone we would blindly choose Samsung S9+ or Samsung Note 8 over oppo find X any day.

Never did i say that market is not sub 300, we actually have more brains than money unlike the developed ones. That guy is paying 65 dollars per month for the same plan I bought for 16.5 from MVNO. Besides since his was BOGO, he is still paying for his wife's phone. Nobody with sane mind would do the same in India. If I'm only going to use phones for call, casual games and internet, why pay 1000 for it or 5499-5999 INR/month which is plan for iphone x ? I bought my mom iphone 6 ( yeah that bendy dandy. Had to slap on a hard case after bendgate was uncovered, so much for premium) couple of years back and that battery life was simply not for her, It wouldn't even last half day with her usage habits. Gave her a redmi 4 that was lying around and never heard her complain about the battery again. I'm not a guy to scream Premium and pay 1000 for it, pretty sure many in india are the same. Phone is a tool, use it as such, buy it as such.

GENIUS.

Quit it , You need to agree that the market is sub $300. As that Gauri Said.

Secondly Some brands may launch 1-2 flagships a year , Just for recognition or to Experiment whether the high end products will sell or not.

Asus Zenfone 5z for the price it has launched on is a huge loss , Asus maybe trying for brand recognition , Same formula that Xiaomi used successfuly for market penetration.

It's true everywhere in the world. Carrier subsidies are a thing you know? India does not get that, and that model won't work here. My friend bought a free iphone x on T mobile few weeks back, so does that count as a sale? for free?. You are still circumventing my question. I am saying that if it does not sell in viable quantity, why would company even bother to launch? Logistics and warehousing cost money you know. So do fancy launch events and brand endorsements. If company can not recover that, why would they bother to do business in that domain? Sony withdrew from middle east, why aren't the premium brands withdrawing from india?

Did they sell 5 million iPhone X or Samsung note 9 , Last time I checked redmi 5a sold 5 million and Redmi Series Mostly sell more than a million units.

The dicussion here is not about whether the phone launches or not , it's just about what the market is and the fact is it's a sub $300 market and only those phones sell.

How Much does apple sell in India Vs Us , Samsung. Its foolish to argue with you cause you don't know buisness , you are all about emotions.

They didn't launch the 660 based phone because it'll be up against their own one plus series. Besides I'm not just talking about those 3, I'm talking about all brands in general too. Why does Samsung launch s and note series right from the start?, why did iPhone launch even at 100k within a month and half of international launch? Why is find x and vivo nex launching? Like you said they do their research don't they? Good thing you aren't doing it for them...

Cause they have done market reasearch and they know what sells and what dosent.

Emotion is one thing , Facts are another , The Market in India is for $300 and less phones and that won't change.

The fact is, if companies consider it viable to launch their products here pretty soon after launch then there must be a market of premium phones as well right? there must be a reason that almost all quality flagships launch within month or 2 before or after global launch. That slot is occupied by oneplus, samsung and apple
