According to Symantec, the closed-system approach is the correct approach when addressing security:
"The reason for this essentially falls on Apple’s decision to create a closed-system. The company’s “provenance approach” is a “strong security barrier, as every app that is to be released on the App Store goes through vetting procedures.”
Microsoft realises this, and is thus following a similar approach with WP7. I imagine that even the new OS's even the open sourced ones, will follow a similar path to iOS, at least where security is concerned.

Really, there's no need to hack into Android or HTC. If you look at Windows and the regular security updates it gets, you'll quickly learn that the more hardware manufacturers you have, the more issues you'll face.
Fact is, iOS's advantage (for example) has one hardware and software manufacturer behind it.
Android has numerous customised versions depending on network and manufacturer.
It's perfectly normal for this to happen, and the sooner people find the issues, the sooner it gets fixed.
Get on with it and stop bashing Android. Btw... I'm a loyal iPhone user.

I think it is androids fault... The freedom has allowed all oems to hire every tom, d*** and harry to customize it. due to this freedom you don't know what's hidden deep within your mobiles. thank god for these guys who are hacking away at roms to find such things.

And the biggest labrats of all are the Nexus owners (especially the ones that buy it @ its release).

I think this opperating system is to rushed, not thought out correctly, not tested pre-release but tested on the public users, and thus potentially breaching the personal data of all there users in the meantime?!
