Samsung's Exynos 9820 to come with tri-cluster, 2+2+4 CPU

11 July 2018
If true, this will be the first Exynos chipset with more than two core clusters.

And yeah, feeling bad for the SNAPDRAGON 810? I feel u friend, but since this truth is already stuck in the history of chipsets, it's hard to forget xD

Kiyasuriin, 12 Jul 2018You can decide to have whatever arrangement you wantYes I know core arrangement can 4+4 or 2+2+4 but DynamIQ should be in single cluster not in 3 cluster like old big.LITTLE one..

H-1, 12 Jul 2018Poor 810, the go-to whenever a heating example is needed XD... moredo you know dynamics fluid in physics? the same concept were applied in cpu. manufacturer could design a wide pipeline with low clock or narrow pipeline with high clock. narrow pipeline design were applied because it's cheaper and power and thermal weren't much of an issue, given an active cooling. on mobile where everyone relies on passive cooling, this become a problem.

Most manufacturers opt for a lower clock, which sometimes can be overridden in certain occasions or by rooting. If not for better heat dissipation then for power reasons.

As far as my little knowledge go, and do coewct me if I'm wrong, SoCs are more stable/long lived if they work in lower clock speeds than reaching the limit frequently.

You guys are trusting iceuniverse way too much, moreso than you have to,you've seen his leaks and track record and you know that most of the time his leaks turn out to be wrong on so many levels. We are way far off from an official exynos unveiling and things change more often than not especially in chip design. Now regarding his leaks, his track record is not anywhere near proven,so i don't trust him that much,I'll wait till Samsung pull the wraps off the exynos 9820 soc to know the differences and features that'll make it stand out compared to its last gen counterpart and i know that Samsung holds a separate event of their own where they showcase their new chipset and that takes place late October to early November,I'll wait till then to know more about the 9820 and its defining features.

Benchmarks multicore score will suffer for a 2+6 configuration and their custom core is too power hungry to use 4 at max clockspeed, have to throttle.

And A57 cores are old-gen high performance cores. Perhaps you meant A55, which are new gen low-power cores (but maybe still more than the under utilized A35 cores)

Actually Samsung didn't admit it, but the Meerkat cores have issues with power management. That's why those benchmark scores were rather detrimental to the battery. In Apple the A10 and A11 have serious heat issues and the performance has forced diminishing over a period of time.

Then A75/ 75 cores are better at power/battery management. Also, Samsung needs to fine tune between a smaller processor due to the advantage of speed and one with better power managemenr. I think it should consider more of the A57 cores with a higher and lower clock configuration for a multicore usage and power management balance. Those cores can be pushed for much longer without overheating or battery drain issues.

The A76 cores will be clocked lowish, to be better P/W than the custom cores but still high enough to run everything better than the A55 cores.
I estimate they will be clocked between 2.4-2.8Ghz, well below the claimed speed of 3.3Ghz by ARM.
