AnonD-455, 04 Oct 2011Those virtual buttons are taking up my precious screen esta... morethe "touch buttons" dont look superimposed over the screen, they look to be similar to capacitive-like, yet built in. It seems like it wont really be taking up screen "real-estate". Let's hope for that? :)

Milkyway_Galaxy, 04 Oct 2011Do you mean the Nexus Prime is a developer device. Err i th... moreThe Galaxy series are consumer devices ,the Prime is not a Galaxy device ,it is a Samsung-manufactured Google dev phone by definition ,being sold to consumer markets does not change a thing ,it's still a dev phone . Why do you think all the Nexuses have the stock android and are easiest to develop on ? [easiest to unlock / root etc.]

AnonD-455, 04 Oct 2011Those virtual buttons are taking up my precious screen esta... moreThe advantage with soft keys is, you can go full-screen and use more of the front real-estate.
The risk is of course that they will be more sensitive to bugs in apps, causing them to be inaccessible. But I guess there will be a "fail-safe" using the lock button.

I wonder I wonder.Mmaybe LG got the contract deal for the better Fugitsu-Toshiba LCD 367PPI AH IPS for their LU series handsets. Samsung may have had to make do with technology as good as Hitachis 327PPI 4.0" LCD & stretched it to 4.6" upon the glamourous SuperAMOLED PLUS HD

Anon, 04 Oct 2011While that is true... I don't exactly know how they make th... moreit should not be lower if it is measured with real pixels, but my presumption was made because those numbers are not equal, so the measurement is maybe made with subpixels...

Hitachi have developed a 4.5" AH In plane switching Liquid crystal display. 1280x720 pixels, 1.100.1 contrast Ratio, 329 Pixels Per Inche.
Toshiba or Fugitsu-Toshiba have developed a 4.0" Liquid Crystal Display. 1280x720, 1.500.1 Contrast Ratio, 367 Pixels per Inche.
Tһеѕе two חеw displays υѕе Low Temperature Poly-Silicon technology wһісһ enables tһеm tο һаνе a 1,500:1 contrast ratio, tһе ability tο ԁіѕрƖау 92% οf tһе colors іח tһе NTSC color gamut, аחԁ viewing angels οf 176 degrees both horizontally аחԁ vertically
So is this samsungs own or are they using Toshibas LCD??? This is strange, the smaller 4.0 lcds are 367PPI but the larger 4.5" of the Hitachi are 329PPI. So Samsung must have struck gold & flawed the competition with with their own R&D or Hitachi or Toshiba have made advancement & sammy are using one of the two technologies.
How interesting indeedy!

Marko K., 04 Oct 2011I think it is not pentile, look at the xdpi and ydpi, one i... moreWhile that is true... I don't exactly know how they make their measurements, since xdpi __should not__ be lower than the dpi value
it should be xdpi 320 and ydpi 960 or something (rgb stripe has 3 subpixels aligned horizontally)
also, check out that dropbox link I posted earlier. it shows some vague typical pentile patterning
