Arif238, 19 Jul 2018I don't see why Nokia X6 is hyped so much its has average c... moreWell, Asus skimps on QC, Type-C, Camera, 5Ghz wifi and uses a Cat-4 LTE modem, so you can't really compare both of them...

The lack of NFC makes this phone a big no no from what I have seen in Hong Kong mobile forums. Personally I would rather get a 7 plus if I need to buy a new phone at this moment. Anyway, I prefer to wait for announcement of the new SD710 and SD845 phones first.

the funny thing is that Mi 8 is just costing hk$3399 which is us$150 more than this Nokia 6.1 Plus. And you can get a flagship phone with s845 instead of s636.

I cannot understand the pricing strategy of Nokia.

maybe also will arrive in short time on market nokia 7.1 plus /aka X7 with snapdragon 710 , that phone with this processor from nokia still missing on market -i would love to prefer by X7 model super amoled display best without notch, built in display fingerprint sensor, dual camera quality at least on level like nokia 8 (sirocco), possibility with 128gb model with 6gb ram would be the best, nfc, stereo speakers would be good additional value

At that price once you add on tax it will be a near 300 euro phone....might as well go for nokia 7 plus.

MaxPro M1 has bigger battery, dedicated card slot , Dual VoLTE.
I don't see Asus is lacking much and Asus has to offer something over Nokia and lets face it except Apple after sale support of every smartphone company is very bad.

pl2rts, 19 Jul 2018So i have my first Xiaomi and i am already a fanboy ? And h... moreJust to clarify, project treble is supposed to make the updating process easier and therefore faster for phone makers BUT it still does NOT guarantee that you will receive updates. It's up to the manufacturers to decide if they can be bothered to release updates or not, treble or no treble.

Android one, on the other hand, is a program where a manufacturer signs a contract with google that requires from them to release two major android OS upgrades and also release all the monthly updates, no matter if the phone has treble or not.

Also, wanting the latest os updates is not about security alone but having the latest features and full app compatibility. Also, newer versions are not always heavier to run, as evidenced by oreo that actually performs a bit better than nougat.

And how come i lost on the update part when i have never cared about it ? For you maybe it's more important to have updates then the use of the device it's self. It's what you need and cant live without. I have my own opinion about them. And why should i care about Mi A1 that have SD625 without project treble ? while i have SD636 with a project treble ? As i have had only two phones in my life that are not Nokia phones that would make me more of a Nokia fanboy then a Xiomi when i have it as my second phone that is not a Nokia and my first Xiaomi phone ? And how am i forcing it on anyone ? While everyone like you is forcing it me by saying im a fanboy of something. To be honest i dont even understand the word of fan as i have never been a fan on anything. I buy things i need and not pay more cause it's a brand thing.

I want Nokia phones but they come to my area too late with to high price for the hardware and i get better options for the same price from others by the time Nokia have there new devices in my market. It takes them too long to arrive and by the time they are they are already too old

Nokia is too high in these lists for failures.
So how is that justified built quality ? While Xiomi Redmi 4 that is one of there lowes budget phones are on the top in failure list and Nokia 6 that should be top side of middle range is in that same top 10 list ?

How do you justify the quality by this info ?
Nokia back in the day when it was not bought by Microsoft was great phones with good quality. Now as they are new company with loaned name somehow is magically still the best quality in the market ?

Would you say it so still when it would be branded as HMD a name nobody knows of ?
Cause it has Nokia sticker on it then it's just quality ? But if it would have HMD logo on it only then it would be so quality ?

Using old trusted branding makes new products with new company somehow more trust worthy.

Looking from my experience i have had 80-90% of my phones Nokia's. After my last Nokia that i had last spring and went to guarantee process with it that took over 4 months i were not happy with it when they fixed the problem but created more new problems that were not there before. Then i first boght a test subject from Leagoo that cost me 92 euro. It had 3GB RAM and 32GB storage with MTK6750 5.5inch FHD IPS screen, fingerprint scanner and type-c. Yes it had few flaws like position of call speaker and made out of plastic so i replaced it with Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 AI. But the quality of the Leagoo was good and it didnt broke when i dropped it few times and it had good battery life. Now this Xiaomi phone i have got arlready 3-4 updates in past 2-3 months that i have owned it and it's made of metal too. I dont see it will broke down on me or something and i cant see how it is somehow worse then a HMD quality.

It's more of a placebo effect with the old brand name with Nokia. If there quality would be so good then they should not be in any list of failure devices and it does not justify that that Nokia 6 2017 was there first new Nokia if we talk about built quality. If it already get in the fail list in it's first year or two then we cant talk about quality in here.

I do my share or research before i buy anything and i have looked all the test done to xiaomi devices. It's my first Xiaomi device and so far it has worker more then good enough for me and i cant see how exactly Nokia build quality is something so special over it

Nokia launching SD636 for $300 and Xiaomi will release SD660 for less than $300. Nokia-0 Xiaomi-1

Prefer a full complimented Android system but this solid feel muscle phone will do well.

pl2rts, 19 Jul 2018Android OS updates dont guarantee you that the device will ... moreAnd to add one more thing.
The announcement of this phone was to early for global market so by the time of there global release there is already better options for the same price from Xiaomi as Mi 8 SE that is around the same price but with better specs like amoled screen and SD710.

From the looks of it, it does not look much different too as both have notch and size is similar too and i dont think that Nokia built quality is better or so much better that i would go with it while have so much better options. That news of failure devices where some low class Xiaomi phone redmi 4 was in the top dont show nothing too as there sold devices are a lot more then Nokia have and there Nokia 6 2017 was 4th in that list too and for manufactures list it was 7th so how it's so quality if it lands in these top 10 failure lists ?

Nokia (HMD) is Good at updates with excellent optimization unlike the botched attempt from Xiaomi that couldn't provide a Stable update for Mi A1 Until now , Monthly security updates are a pipe dream when it comes to Xiaomi , Android Version updates are a Miracle.

Xiaomi sells phones for cheap for a reason , First is Cheap build quality and Cheap Components , Secondly Updates and Software support , Subpar Customer service and the list can go on and on.
