Smartphone world cup: Samsung Galaxy S9+ is our champion

21 July 2018
It was a close match with plenty of changes in the lead, but the S9+ ended up victorious.

I haven't seen phones who doesn't lag after usage of couple of years, because there is no such a thing as not laying phone after heavy usage. Overall S series was ahead of any series for tears offering overall best experience in software and hardware side. So no complains here

I feel its a well deserved victory, even though I would still stress that Oneplus 6 is pure value!

Samsung, if you've been reading their flagship reviews, are heavily obsessed with quality.
Check any S or Note series after S4... Audio quality is near perfect, Camera quality is awesome for its league, even video recording or slow motion video recording, one thing that's often ignored, is way up there with the best. Don't even mention display, one of the best in industry. Now, even the loudspeaker is a killer!!
This is where the competition fades away, "all rounded-ness".

Samsung had quality, but was late to the twin camera party. But, with Note 8 it got there.
And now S9+, it has it all for today's era. Processing power, multimedia, display, loudspeaker, etc, etc. (Except maybe for battery life, but hey. powerbanks!)

Even if I was a neutral judge (I am, considering that I only own Nokia's and Mi's so far), I would still give it to S9+.
But yes, one mention of the word "budget" and I'll suggest the Oneplus 6 then and there.

Sammy, apple, huawai, oppo, one plus, lg all look copy pasted at an extend, and that's a shame. Only Sony used to play uniquely, but that's gone now.
So yeah, sammy is meeeh in design.

Corporal Clegg, 22 Jul 2018So the winner is a phone with mediocre battery life, orange... moreThe Samsung UI doesn't lag anymore. Honestly, my father uses a S8+ and he willingly or unwittingly installed pages of crapware, literally more than 2 full pages of ad-littered good-for-nothing chaos(I didn't get a full count, but for example he has at least 3 different map apps and 4 different video apps from companies that love to add bloat like Tencent), and he's on firmware with bad reputation: the Mainland Chinese one. Also he doesn't use the in-built system optimization. Still his Samsung doesn't lag.

There should be a categorized worldcup as per price ranges. So that people from different prices range can actually find out what is the best phone in their budget. Now as a mid range phone user, this worldcup has nothing to provide any benefit to me

I am just glad to see iphones put in their rightless places. Dont get me wrong, any phone that was even considered for this is a good phone. Just sick and tired of these fanboys overrating em.

How do you improve perfection? S9 came with the best slo mo camera ever and beat sony in its own game.. The reason it sells less because every iteration is perfect and it caused people to hold on to it for as long as its servicable life.. Unlike other brands where people can't wait for the next iteration to get rid of the current mess they've bought..

As much as many people love curved displays, an equal amount love flay screens. I recall the s7 and s7 edge selling in similair numbers apparently, can't remeber which article.

*Hint*: Unlike tech sites would tell you it is not because they get more awesome each year.

I thought S8 was the most underwhelming upgrading in S series. S9 surprised me, it is even more underwhelming. I don't know what do you enjoy in having the same screen for 3rd year in a row and a tiny battery...

That’s why people who do not abide to terms that google spurs out, buy iphones or they install a custom android rom that does not use google services.

But yeah, all brands who use android + play store, are spying brands. Because they enable spying upon their users instead of protecting them.

Sweet! I just knew it's going to be the S9+

Samsung is like Ronaldo. Haters gonna hate. They just keep making things better than the rest, which is why most people buy their phones.

If not for it's rom. The S9+ imo does deserve the medal. For a few very clear reasons:
-FOR THE GLOBAL version, DESPITE having a preformance scaling issue and being VERY conservative toward reaching the peak. The S9+ posted the highest CPU prowess to date in Android.
-it does not have a notch (something many people appreciate)
                                        -it retains the 3.5mm jack
-though fairly uneven. The Stereo sound is quite good for a first ettempt.
-in the sea of lookalikes. It's distinguishable that this is the S9+. And not another copycat of the iPhone X
-memory expansion is kept, even though it's a hybrid slot. But hey~ better hybrid than nothing no?
-Supports a Desktop Experience natively (Win-win in my honest opinion)
-and at launch it costed a bit less than the predecessor.
Now tell me these facts are incorrect. It deserved to be a champ. And I am not a samsung fan.
