OMG!!! Who in this modern world is gonna buy this ancient ''smartphone"???

ComeOnTalkWithMe, 23 Jul 2018niche definition-"denoting or relating to products, service... moreI know what 'niche' means, and I also pointed it out specifically, in the second line, that their own 'niche' market isn't responding well to them.

Their older phones- Passport, Priv and Classic did not sell as much as they THEMSELVES expected.

Priv was expected to sell 800,000 units, but only sold 650,000 units.

Passport sold out initially, but its total sales were lesser than expected, when it was THE device they were hoping to bring them a fortune.

I'm not saying that they should compete with big players, I'm saying that they should price their devices more aggressively, or else they will lose the enterprise customers as well, like they've been doing:

Talking about the user group, there is the KEYone as well. I don't think 'corporate' users would be worried about missing out on a dual camera setup, or better specs, since their focus is in limited apps and SD625 along with 3/4GB ram is enough for that. Battery is a bit better than that on the KEYone, and that's it.
On the other hand, KEYone comes with Gorilla Glass 4, while KEY2 comes with GG3, surprisingly, so that's an advantage for the former. It is also relatively cheaper, although still very costly, at INR 32990.

As I said, they are not in a position to demand sky high prices even in the niche market.
As for Samsung, their A8+ is priced same as KEYone in India, and the latter comes with SD625 , while the former, with SD660, so no, it's the Blackberry that is overpriced from this angle.
KEY2 and S8 (S9 is a different thing) aren't in the same league, more because what you get for your money if you simply go with KEYone.
It is overpriced from the beginning, compared to KEYone, which itself is overpiced. In USA, the cost is just $25 more, that's it.

nigerianprince, 23 Jul 2018You can't use 'niche' as an excuse to justify its price, an... moreniche definition-"denoting or relating to products, services, or interests that appeal to a small, specialized section of the population."

Yes people will buy the Galaxies and the iPhones because they are catering to the demands of the common man. I was just pointing out that the device is not overpriced compared to these devices, and not looking at their respective sales figures. That is not "niche". That was never a part of the argument in the first place, since the number of devices sold relative to Samsung or Apple is not relevant to BB. They are trying to meet their own targets. KeyOne was a resounding success in that regard and KeyTwo will be too as to how their target market is responding.

This device caters to the corporate, productive audience, and in that category there is nothing that comes close to BB services or its keyboard. So it will sell well, just not well enough compared to the titans of the industry(who focus on all users and not a specialized set).

            Oh my.
I thought Sony and HTC are the only ones who put these price tags in a crazy way. XD

SKR..., 23 Jul 2018Personally, I won't buy it for sure. But that doesn't mean ... moreJust because it is priced more in the USA doesn't mean it is NOT overpriced in India.
Sony and HTC are more expensive in India than in USA.
Blackberry is more expensive in the USA than in India.
              That's the ONLY difference.

ComeOnTalkWithMe, 23 Jul 2018I can see most people are unhappy with the price. But, cons... moreYou can't use 'niche' as an excuse to justify its price, and then say that Apple and Samsung have overpriced devices.
ALL these are overpriced, but the difference is people will buy the Galaxies and the iPhones, whereas this device may not even sell well in its niche category.
This pricing isn't going to help Blackberry, not even if it is $25 cheaper than in the USA (it just means that it is more overpriced in the USA).

Personally, I won't buy it for sure. But that doesn't mean that the phone is bad, at 38K (after discounts) it's in a way good! As for the pricing, as people are comparing it to Sony and HTC, I totally disagree with the opinion, in India it's priced really well not like those brands which set a horrendous pricing here in India! It's cheaper than what it is in US.
There are a few blackberry fans, who would really love the phone I believe!

I can see most people are unhappy with the price. But, considering this is a niche device, I personally think that the pricing is great, even cheaper than the US pricing by $25 !! Brands like Apple and Samsung price their phones exorbitantly here in India, which is very very greedy of them. Import duties are same, so commendable job, Blackberry and TCL !!

Note: The Keyboard is a beast and a real aid in typing accurately. Best of any smartphone. And it alone costs between $100-$150 to make.

Note 2: Now people will say that Xiaomi provides this configuration in Rs.20,000/- . To those people, I say that Xiaomi is a brand that will not think twice to share your data with the Chinese government. You may think "that's ok, anyway I am not somebody important", but if you connect the dots and actually do some reading on privacy and security, then you will find that it is actually a very big deal.Data Science is a miracle.

Holy cow. Blackberry will close its operations in India in near future. One thing I'm sure about. This phone is exorbitantly priced.

Don't know when will these "top-tier" brands will learn how to price their products right. BB didn't learn from HTC's fate in India. I can bet this will be the last phone from Blackberry in India, before we hear the same news in a few weeks "Balckberry closing down business in India"

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?! Even Sony and HTC are not that dumb!

Last year I had purchased KeyOne Special edition for 40K as my daily driver & Nokia 3 for 10K as my backup phone. Nokia 3 got Oreo update in April 2018, but KeyOne is still stuck at Nougat 7.1.2. BB had promised long back about Oreo update. Before launching new handset, at least, BB should have cared to update old handset. Not sure, how many handsets BB managed to sold for previous one, but even if with qwerty keypad, it should not be priced above 40K.

This phone isn't worth the money

today brand value is not important ....we need performance justify its price

seriously? oneplus 6 costs 100$ less in india. with discounts , u could get pixel 2xl from flipkart for extra 50$. jesus. its like blackberry wants to go out of market.

Considering SD660, this should have been priced between 25k to 35k. Looks like BB is going for margins rather than volumes.
