        It's not about who does it first, but more about who does it better.

            For people who were wondering. Foldable screens or even devices are not than new, we saw prototypes even back in 2009(even Nokia had Kitetic prototype in 2011). Even batteries are not a problem.
            Problem is durability. This, just behind money, is main problem. They are just too... fragile for typical user. None of company want to release device and get bashed by users who bend them in weird way and sit on them. We need to remember that most of people are... not that inteligent. And OEMs know that and had to find way to make such devices more sturdy. And that need time and LOTS of money.

              I hope they develop a phone that is able to do a hologram display. (Do I have the right spelling?)
              That would be nice. A true innovation.

What the designs shown show, I can't fi... moreThe idea for a folding phone would be that when folded it's a regular phone and when unfolded it's a much bigger screen like a tablet. Taking a regular phone and folding it just makes it more pocket friendly at the risk of more wear and tear. It doesn't add much value.

                      Huawei should make it first so that the whole Galaxy X hype would be dead. Samsung deserve that after copying stuff all those years.

                              We are getting to a point where many smartphones are so wide and tall that it is hard to fit them in to a pockets for a lot of people, while there is often room for a bit of extra thickness.

                              But it would be nice if they also made some smaller phones, max 5" screen or so, unfolded.
