Example: someone throws a ball to a dog.
S9 will detect when dog starts moving. You may not be able to record the moment the dog bites de ball.
XZ2 lets you choose.
960fps, glass body, IP68 and stereo speakers = gimmick before Samsung decides to use. Useful when they use..

Mr. Electronics, 27 Jul 2018May I ask, what is DRAM? There is a memory RAM inside the sensor to deal with that huge amount of data generated by recording 960fps.
Without that, it is impossible to do it..
0.2s of 960fps HD is a harder task than 2h of 4K 30fps
P20 has just playback, it does not record 960fps.

Sensor from S9 is from february/2018.
Samsung has more RAM inside sensor, but still could not offer 1080p.

Copied, bested with auto mode, now leaving sony behind with recording time. What sony did: made time shorter. Not that FHD is bad, it useless if you cannot catch the right moment...

2GB x 1GB
Next Xperia Premium ( CES 2019) will have DRAM for both sensors, which means 1920fps @ 1080p or 960fps@4K.
Also connected to AUBE for night vids.
Sony is always one step ahead.

Sony does have 1080p slowmo but the length is just 0.1 seconds or 3 seconds which is useless anyway.
Samsung is the one who's leading in the slow-motion video department.

Still, Sony is leading in "slow-mo" in smartphone camera department. Anyway, they are both great devices.
