The problem with the OnePlus 3/3t was that it lacked many of the 4G-LTE bands, such as one of the commenters on here from Australia. The OnePlus 5/5t/6 finally fixed that shortcoming, but they still suck when it comes to waterproofing, battery size, USB speed, and camera performance.
However, there are plenty of Android 8.1 ROMs out there, just look at xda-devs.
Even for the Samsung Galaxy S7 (Exynos 8890) models. They just won't have the bloat/services from Samsung/OnePlus properly baked in when using Custom ROMs....and to me that's a positive thing, not a negative thing. I much prefer a cleaner, smoother, more efficient software personally.

Nice, so basically they were pressured by the fans to update their 2 y.o. device? Looks like they settle after all.
But why couldn't they do the same for OnePlus 2 and OnePlus X?

Now if the S7 won't get Android P I'm going to vent. This just put a lot of pressure to the rest OEMs for their update policy.

i received my one plus 6 after about 10 days or so.
Keep in mind though the dash charger that comes in the box is a china one. (so you need adaptor for it to fit in a Australian powerpoint)

Like that saying goes fool me once shame on you , fool me twice shame on me. All that little reputation that OP managed to gather so hardly with the help of the 3/3T (this phone basically salvaged a sinking ship) would end up in the gutter in an instant so i don't think they won't deliver this time or else they would be pretty stupid.

It was a tossup between the LG G6 and OP3T for me I went the G6 for the wide angle and water resistance just to be stuck on android 7 while the 3T moves on the 9.... let alone the 5 onto 10 (assuming from this it will). Guess oneplus will be my next phone, if only they would come to Australia as i can't afford a pixel.

year os updates. Project treble on Oreo and higher made is easier for all phone manufacturers to support longer but when and if they support longer is up to them. My Pixel XL shipped with 7.1 nougat, been on Oreo for since August and the likes of Samsung S8 took until march (6 months later) and it is getting Android P.

I won't be surprised if the oneplus 3t's final update might be having some bugs,but somehow i am still excited for the update

After the letdown with the OnePlus 2, this is actually really impressive. Finally someone other than Google and Nokia breaking the 2-update-cycle. This is highly needed as our phones get exponentially better every year so people keep them longer.

I'm not much of a OnePlus fan, but credit where's it's due. That will be 3 major OS updates for the devices, better than even Google's own devices and android one phones get.

No doubt it is great news, kudos to Oneplus, only if they provide the update.
I still remember owning the Oneplus 2. They explicitly said, multiple times, that the OP2 will get Nougat. And none other than their top level execs said it.
And after a few months, in between some random post in their forums, they mentioned that OP2 won't get Nougat. They didn't even acknowledged the fact that they lied to the users, nor were they any apologetic. They were simply like "it's very obvious, because it's been so long, it's obvious Nougat is not coming".
They didn't even create a separate post, it was just another reply inside some random post.
