The phone launched in 2016 with Marshmallow on board, so it's good to see it hasn't been forgotten.

Remember how Lollipop was affected and forced all (consumer-aware) OEMs to upgrade their devices from Lollipop 5.0.x to 5.1.x. Mem leaks are a serious issue so Xiaomi should take action. I mean the device is on the market only since February. If they really don't give a toot about what their freshly acquired customers experience and endure, they're not worthy of getting a cent. Which is ironic since there are no cents where I live. So mo matter what, Xiaomi won't ever get the smallest bit of cash from this guy.

        Apparently, RAM gets consumed for some unknown sh*t that I probably don't even use.

        CPU usage is fine, though I really wished my phone had the SD630 for at least better GPU (which I care more for playing PUBG or ROS)

Using the RAM as often as possible is a good way to optimize performance. Windows does that (ot only displays RAM actually used, but going in the details of the Task Manager reveals how much RAM is used as cache)

            On the other hand high CPU usage is not optimized performance

              Speed tests online show the same exact behavior as my phone does, so it's not just my unit, but basically all units

              And to be fair, I don't expect flagship level of performance, but it's just too weak to handle simple tasks for 4GB RAM that it has
              MIUI is just poorly optimized, it would still reload apps even with 10GB or 12GB RAM

                    They can give us MIUI 10 later on but should give us Android Oreo first.

                      MIUI 9 was promised to improve performance, but guess what? My Redmi 5 Plus, even with no other apps opened, barely keeps 2GB RAM available.

Other Chinese cr*p OEMs (ahem Vivo, Oppo being the bighest names that need to be named) don't tell you if you are ever going to get a security patch.

                            Even with their buggy updates at times, Asus do a great job supporting their devices.
                            Although I do hope this update find its way to the other zenfone 3 max members with MTK SoCs.
