marketwatchanon, 01 Aug 2018finally i can buy a phone which i can fold closed and keep ... moreI would love to see other design concept than this. I rather see a phone that can double screen size o demand, than a phone that goes from 100% screen size to 0%(folded on the inside).

Mollayyo, 31 Jul 2018Oppo already did it with their Find X True. Reason for that is, they just wanna to copy Apple, even in bendgate :D

This is absolutely an excellent news (although natural and so easily predictable!). The more the better. Let them raise up the bar of technology always better/higher!!!

still have doubt about foldable display, will the color or even the material degrade on the folding angle? guess have to wait for the 2nd or 3rd generation (never buy first product of it's kind)

If Oppo and Xiaomi join in along with Huawei this will actually decrease market price of foldable phone. Its a good thing for us consumers. Although, I kinda doubt BOE, Visionox or LG Display can supply them with enough flexible display. Too many people joining in and all the suppliers have small production capacity unlike Samsung. It will be very very limited.

finally i can buy a phone which i can fold closed and keep in my bad or pocket, and not having to use an ugly screen protector. Loving foldable phones! cant wait.

I don't even understand how its useful other than proof of concept and making displays more durable. Floating cell phones would make a great ad with someone swimming through a pool of live phones. No one seems to be working on that.

Think of a device that folds in 3parts (one on top of the other. Each part has a component (first part main board second and third battery)

The only thing that needs to be foldable is the outer layer of said parts , I.e. their screen/protection.

That's touch still, but nowhere near decades away as if we were to wait for foldable components too.

So now it's a 5-way race between Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi and Microsoft? MY bet's on Huawei getting first, although I think the best one would probably be the one by Samsung.
