Dual-core CPUs and LTE coming to Windows Phone in the future

10 October, 2011
The man in charge of the OS says both are in the works, but he's not ready to commit to a time frame.

..., 10 Oct 2011There is no reason for dual core WP7 device to exist. Singl... morethat iOS and WP have gpu acceleration for UI(user interface). So android uses the cpu single or dual core, to move the interface, the other two could have a 133 mhz cpu and still wouldn't matter because they use GPU !!! get it ? CPU GPU.

BORINGMS, 10 Oct 2011no matter how they put quad cores/ 2gb ram/ supercrazy amol... morei don't know...i've been stalking android phones now for 3-4 months..seen them get flash 10, froyo, gingerbread and evolve first dual core, first dual ch ram, first 3d, etc..and just 1-2 days ago i sort of got hooked with mango. it's jus tso smooth even on one core. But still it's missing 3-4 big things for it to fully compete with android and the upcoming Kal-el 5+1 cpu and 12 core gpu. If windows phone 7.5 mango doesnt get a hdmi /tv-out option, and doesn't get flash 10.1 at least, and also usb on the go so i can use a regular keyboard and mouse on it, like android can, and also if they don't put that darn gyroscope in these mango phones, then i'm sorry but i'll spend my money on a android whith all of these 4 high end requirements at the sacrifice of a bit on lag in the UI(it's got no gpu acceleration in regular UI menu, browsing web) Still games and video get gpu acceleration so only part of UI with a tiny lag is way more acceptable than no flash 10.1 no tv out, no gyro and no usb support. This is my point of view when i have to part with 200-400 euros depensing on new or second hand buy. Right now i would just love a optimus 2x with mango for example.

anybdy over here dats talking bad about microsofts os hasnt probably used it, or even seen it working for that matter.....
          its revolutionary nt evolutionary....
use ur dual cores and many android fones will still stutter around.
wp7 never does, nr does iPhones for dat matter.
it takes tym for changes to happen.
the worlds gonna take notice of wp7, dats for sure

Andy Lees says that single core @ 1.5GHz would handle the competition (and the competition is dual core).

Personally, I think that this would be true only if such a processor could enable video recording at 1080p@30.

Today, I wouldn't settle for less than 1080p@30 video recording.

So can anyone tell me (for sure!) whether such processors could do it?

I always was a nokia user, i like symbian, think ios and android are not bad, Meego/Maemo was very good but already killed, now the MER project seems very good, but what about WP7, mango update has already been lauched and it fails, an EPIC fail.
Feel sorry for nokia, hope you have not made the worst choice ever, E7 would be my last Nokia

i can no longer wait for the wp7.5, i dont know if they will really release it to the market and if they will, i doubt if they will sell it here in the philippines. as for now i have chosen galaxy s2. being a proud owner of samsung i780 and omnia 2 windows mobile phones, i will pass on the 7.5 version, after the galaxy s2, my next phone will be a wp8 device. i also doubt if the wp7 htc phones here in manila will get updated to wp7.5, because my wm6.0 i780 was not updated to wm6.1 when it was released and other countries were enjoying the upgrade. so i'll pass on htc mozart for fear that my poor country will be left out again.

Aaron, 10 Oct 2011Well, Windows Phone is a already flop. And not even Nokia's... moreNo use stating it as fact unless it has already happened. We will see, when Nokia releases their WP7 line. I have a feeling droid boys are going to be surprised, that yet more phones can sell based on 'user experience' and software optimization, and not tech specs alone.

Well, Windows Phone is a already flop. And not even Nokia's partnership with Microsoft can save it from even flopping harder. Nokia's loyal customers felt betrayed and alienated when Nokia scrapped Symbian and Meego for this damn OS. The US, which Nokia desperately tries hard to appeal to, is already dominated by iOS and Android. There is no way they can sway them from iOS and Android. The rest of the world, especially the developing countried where Nokia was once popular with Symbian, will surely never get accustomed to the locked down environment of WP. Nokia can't force this OS to them. Windows Mobile already failed. Windows Phone won't change that. Microsoft should have long given up. And Nokia should have never tried to salvage an already failed OS.

Although, I am really excited for what they will offer, a Nokia Window Phone is what I most probably buy.

Anyone, who is not giving WP OS thumps up is probably just trolling. WP OS is doing a lot right, i'm excited.
