Samsung's mid-range smartphone roadmap for Oreo is out

Almost all handsets will get the Oreo update by early 2019 while the Glaux J5 Prime and Galaxy Xcover 4 are closer than expected.

When will the Note 5 even get Oreo

    Hopefully, the EU regulation on Google forces Samsung to remove the bloatware causing slow updates. I like Samsung, but thry arw far from perfect

      2016 smartphone getting a 2017 android OS update in 2019. Samsung should look no further as to why they are losing market shares.

Like, Samsung has a major Android v... moreSamsung will use the same custom ROM prepared for premium devices, but, with change of drivers specific to particular model phone. Hence, if they plan on bringing the Pie to mid range phones, that will make an infinite loop, coz samsung needs to add it's custom UI and other features on top of stock Pie ROM. They should release it to premium phones as beta, fix the bugs, release the standard version, again fix another round of bugs reported in standard version. By that time(exactly this time of next year), there will be a new version of Android.

                    I have the feeling that this is what people are saying to others to feel better about not being up to date. Because an Android update is not only about features, but also optimizations.
                    And Samsung has its share of inferior software too if you want to talk about that (Bixby is the obvious one! Lol). Not to mention that if we take a look at every manufacturer software, we can say that, so this is pretty much a "no value argument".
                    For example I can talk about LDAC which has been available on Sony phones for years and only came with Oreo (thanks to Sony). Then it came to Samsung phones when they decided to update their phones to Oreo.

Infact Google's Android Pie is inferior in many ways to Samsung's Android Nougat. Google always booties features from Samsung years after they've been on Samsung phones.

                                  Isn't Pie official now? Like, Samsung has a major Android version late of update coming to some of their phones! They should upgrade straight to Pie, as long as the devices are compatible, but that's another thing...

                                    Samsung always a year late on the android version game. I dont expect them to release Android Pie as soon as possible anyway. It is too recent and Samsung is not running stock android. Google need to pass the code to Samsung first then Samsung need to do their usual tweaking which take a few months for each phone. And we all know their focus would be flagship only at first. All the midranger will be worked on by the time Android Q is almost out. All you newbie out there, dont be surprised.
