Nope. The graph on the right is the battery life. On the left are battery size in mAh and on the right is how long it last on the phone. That's why we have bottom line connecting all together. And the picture of the graph is on the battery, not on phone's screen...

However, the fact is, people rarely use wifi on their Gigabit LTE equipped phones. Majority are on Facebook and watch Youtube and are browsing news and other websites mostly, if not exclusively, on mobile LTE data alone. There's a huge difference in actual battery endurance when you are using mostly wifi only (rare) as opposed to using mostly or exclusively mobile data only (a lot more common). To claim that phone A will last longer than phone B because of higher endurance rating from gsmarena's WIFI based testing is at best, misleading. People truly concerned about battery life need only to look at the battery capacity and should definitely ignore gsmarena's battery endurance ratings especially if they are heavy mobile LTE data users. Wifi only users may still use those endurance ratings as reference for buying phones with long lasting batteries but, really, how many are they? Gsmarena should revise their test protocol to include mobile LTE data and it doesn't have to be a perfectly controlled. By rmaking several mobile data trials and taking the average of several trials as the rating, you are closer to providing real world battery performance, however imperfect the testing might be than having a perfectly repeatable wifi only testing with zero correlation to real world performance.
Gsmarena doesn't need to redo all the battery endurance tests for all phones either. Only newly released phones may be included in the new database. It's pointless providing a database of obsolete, no longer produced smartphones anyway. Gsmarena can call it 'Battery Endurance Test II'.

Kirin 970 wasn't any more efficient than Exynos 8895 because they were both based on 10nm process node and using CPU/GPU cores in the same generation. Kirin 980 on the other hand will use newer cores than those on current Exynos 9810 and is going to be built on 7nm node which can make a huge difference in power consumption.

That red bar chart on the right could even have a double-meaning. Battery life may have been steadily increasing across the phones shown(if not mAh), but screen size has also being going up which I think is something we all expect to be the case with the Mate 20.

I'm the only one from my friends with a Huawei flag ship (mate10pro) and from what I have hear/seen from my friends with Samsung flagships. My phone lasts longer, way longer, them theirs. This includes the S9, 9+, Note 8 etc...
Sometimes we sent eachother screenshots about how our phones perform and my friends are always shocked how my phone lasts this long...
But ofcourse it all depends how you use your phone and how your settings are.
For me, I'm a heavy user which get 1.5days out of my phone and I get 2+ days when I'm not using it much.

As for the endurance rating, it's to make a reference point where you can test all phones as objective as possible. As far as I know, it started before Lte was mainstream and adding it to the test now means you'll have great phones with lower battery rating than older bad phones.
Also, not all people use mobile data for long, and battery capacity may play a role, but also phone's internals and distance from the cell tower if my info is correct.

No... morei dont think its wrong using labs control benchmarking. u r rite about lte drains more than wifi, but lte drains depend on how strong is the signal, and it varies from telco to telco depend on tech that the telco deployed, u can read any white paper on lte on how telco try to work on their sides to ease the battery drains.
meanwhile,wifi power is more stable, so its fair, cuz the use same wifi n same wifi protocol.
on gaming, it will be varied unless its controlled gaming using robotics, cuz u shud know when project butter was introduce, cpu will ramp up when it sense a touch, how to control that without control environment? thats why lab testing is important, to reduce any variable, to make it fair like nits control n etc.
unlike some youtube reviewer, using 50% brightness as protocol, when 50% brightness is diff interm of nits from one device to another.
im not saying gsm arena testing is perfect, but its not as bad as u said.
ps: its hard to control tower switching or signal strength of lte( even from same telco) to be the same unless u put the device at the same exact place n let it idle.
