Flagship sales are plummeting as reported in the news, only midrange keeps their sale numbers up.

But they keep the "Ingenious" marketing spinning...
People slowly getting sick of that I guess...
as there is nothing to brag about, and certainly not to be disrespectful of competition...

They cost Samsung much much less than $300 to make and they are accessories which people probably wouldn't have bought anyway.
Selling Note 9 for $1000 means huge profits per unit for them and it fosters their appeal to people

Samsung sold 10.2 million Galaxy S9 units in Q1, 2018, 9 million Galaxy S9 in Q2, 2018...Nearly 20 million S9 in 6 months is damm good sales.
Samsung is still number One sales in Phones.
Huawei is number two.
Apple is now number three.
Newer companies like Vivo, Xiaomi have moved into top 10 brands.
Sony is number 12.

Looks like lots of Apple fans are hurt with this fantastic albeit very expensive Note 9. Note 9 is a fantastic mobile THE FLAGSHIP of all devices just like Note8 but it will struggle in the market just like iPhones due to the hefty price tag. People do not throw away money on something that lasts NOT more than 8-10 months as flagship. Good luck with their marketing though!

Because of price, they give same hardware as lot expensive devices, and you know what? They sell rate from year to year get lower and lower...they abadon nexus and rename it to pixel at lot higher price and they sell rate start to grow...

Samsung is mirroring the prices albeit in a very slightly lower prices. This is absurd. I mean Samsung can afford $300 worth of freebies if you get a Note9. A Note9 could be in the $600-$700. But no, they don't want to be perceived as the "cheap" brand.
It's business, I know. I could appreciate the magic of the Note series even with a price range of $600+. A lot of people will appreciate that lower price with the wonderful functions of the S Pen. I guess I need to stop getting $1000 smartphones that are in the price range of gaming laptops. It's time to vote down with not getting any of these $1000 phones.

But back to the price, Samsung is indeed charging too much.
Let's say the phone costs $500 - bill of materials is $250 & the other $250 includes; R & D, worker pay, marketing & distribution.
Now that price is reasonable to pay but when they want 2X that amount then they should take other factors into consideration not just greed which is the result of never having the latest android version available at launch nor good software support in the long run despite project treble so it all comes down to the fact all this is planned obsolescence and prices for the sheep (us consumers) doesn't matter if you got billions.

Excellent opportunity for pro-American market forces to explode a few phones, post on the internet, and watch the disaster unfold in favor of American brands. Global economy and market share is a war, things like these have happened before.
