      One day, that ODM will dominate the Smartphone world just like HTC was but this time, they learned from the past and uh, listen to what the GSMA community wanted;

Band 20, Latest 10nm or lower Snapdragon processors, IR Blaster, headphone jack, Samsung OLED screens, 4'5 - 5'5 inch screen with 85% - 90% StB ratio, Dual SIM and dedicated microSD card slot, removable backplate with removable battery with iP68, USB-C, no notch, branded camera optics and many innovations this website's communities wanted for a low low price for $300 - $500 on a jam-packed phone that will make every phone feel envy.

It's impossible but jokes on that phone aside, I hope U12 Life deviated HTC's command and add a headphone jack. It would be nice if it has an in-built audio splitter that one person can listen through the jack and the other with HTC's U-Sonic USB-C headphones.

Was okay until I saw the 6 inch screen - just too big. It's not that different from a nokia 7 plus....kinda in between the nokia 6 and 7 plus. Shane about no headphone jack.

Htc fan here, got U Ultra 128gb (sapphire glass edition) at just $240. Using it as a secondary phone. I dont mind the bezels if the price is ultra low for a flagship grade specs.

I am interested in this device as a new one to my zippy solid and still attractive HTC One A9. Two tone back looks interesting. No slippery shiny glass..dislike those, so finally this could be the one. Ideally should be 660 chip or higher.

              Not anymore.
Samsung probably has one phone model for each $10 from $200 to $1,000 yet it's struggling in China.
HTC? Puh-lease. There's nothing they can do that rivals cannot do better, for the same or less cash.
While it used to have exclusivities like Boom Sound, today's phones offer largely the same audio experience for much less cash, and the half a dozen audiophiles that can spot the difference aren't enough to boost sales.
HTC launched quite a bit of outdated phones at upgraded prices. That only works for so long, and eventually even die hard fans jump out.
Nokia, Blackberry, Palm and a few other brands realized that the hard way. They had to evolve to survive.
It's more than past time HTC wakes up.

                    What a joke.

The U12+ wipes the floor with anything made by the above.

Oneplus... let's remember how every year they cheat benchmarks and get busted eventually.

Both are on Oreo yet there is the difference you showed. And looking at past updates, the baseband version of C, L and XA phones are all like this and capitalized

Just when I thought HTC made a decent phone

That's what happens when you get greedy with the pricings, thinking HTC could compete with the big boys pricing it the same.
Leave the flagships to the big boys like samsung, huawei, xiaomi and oneplus.

Semi retirement for HTC brand. When getting old and not healthy it's time to retire. Can't compete anymore, just enjoy life. Anyway your fan boys only buying a new cellphone every 4 years because you made it so strong and sturdy.

Well it is common that mid rangers/entry level devices are ODM, such as Xperia XA line, an many Chinese phones, like Redmi line from Mi. Nothing to do with not having enough employees, but just cost cutting, like cheap TVs nowadays... GSM arena should get more educated, as you keeps refering to the brand tho the phone have barely a thing to do with the actual brand apart from marketing... And it is actually easy to spot, if you don't know how to read source code, just check the Kernel version, ODM devices tend to have them written in different ways compared to companies' flagship. For example, Xperia XA line will have it written in Year/month/day (Chinese style), rather than the other way round you see on XZ line.
