Tommy, 14 Aug 2018The galaxy note 8 reached 1200 nits. So how is this better?Guy from Phone Arena was once asked why during their tests the Samsung flagships barely reach 540 nits when DM says above 1000.

He said DM measures brightness at a white point equivalent to 1% of screen and not a whole screen like tech sites. This way it is easier to push brightness.

DisplayMate? Really? Even their website is terrible, how can someone take them seriously?
(I know that Samsung's OLEDs are the best)

Haidy, 14 Aug 2018I challenge to everyone who could prove the otherwise. Ever... morePoled is not another kind of oled. It is just plastic substrate.
All oled used on mobile devices are Am- oled.
S9 has plastic oled too, only way to shape the screen.

The doubt is WHY CANT THEY TEST THE MAIN DEVICES INSTEAD OF SAMSUNG X APPLE?

The iPhones with LCD have less than 1:1350 contrast, worse DELTA values than even U11+ .

The i8+ screen beside G6 or XZ Premium is put to shame. Not even counting G7 and XZ2.

Anonymous, 14 Aug 2018Displaymate is bad web No more test smartphone, beacuse LG... moreExcept it's not better because the oled one better in almost every way across the board, reflectance, viewing angles, sunlight legibility, blacks, contrast, hdr, power efficiency, calibration of accuracy and saturation. Etc etc.
And lcd can get image retention which is the same as burn in in end result. As well as lcd can suffer from backlight issues which do not effect oled.
            So you wanna fail again?

Even the S8 has better screen than most smartphones released this year including Sony XX2 Premium.

And years ago when it did have a few more slow downs..... Software and hardware were less advanced and oddly enough... All phones had a few more slow down... Ironic right??

T Rex, 14 Aug 2018Display mate is a subsidiary of Samsung or what?Yeah... Cause the possibility that Samsungs newest panel being the best they made yet is just insanity.
Or the fact with all the money the spend in research and development in their factories and tech could make an bright advanced amoled panel.
And imagine the display in an advanced flagship device that is oled having super color rendition and other aspects compared to other displays.
The nerve of these people trying to fool us like that

Samsung makes the best displays but unfortunately lags in the software department which leads to slowing down of the phone. Not to mention Bixby is trash which makes one wonder that the resources used on Bixby could've been allocated elsewhere. Note 9 is an easy pass. Shall have to wait for the Pixel 3 or the iPhone to dazzle me.

alex romania, 14 Aug 2018it basically the same display tech as in s9 and s9plus, not... moreThe S9+ is a flagship device. It's hard to release something better than a flagship, at least Samsung is doing different things with their 6 month variations. Other than the pen, like a much bigger battery, slightly bigger screen, refined display, sound, performance (water cooling) etc.

it basically the same display tech as in s9 and s9plus, nothing new just like in note 9 promo , same specs as s9 , not the worlds powerfull or best, just an oversized s9 with a pen.
note series should have some unique upgrades not copy the S series!

I challenge to everyone who could prove the otherwise. Everything has pros and cons. Prove it considering all the factors and if you can't prove then stop crying and accept that Samsung is King in mobile displays, even apple accepted that. What do u think? LG could produce better P-OLEDS than AMOLEDs? It's the age of OLEDs, don't give ur shit abt LCDs, Every manufacturer tries its best to implement OLED in its flagship and Samsung holds more than 90% share in OLEDs market shipment share (Are you sure you're not living on earth?)
Try to think abt everything from an unbiased point of view.
I'm a Note user and i don't like everything of Samsung but please keep your shitty biased perceptions to urself when you can't give any logical reason.

                                    "Apple Microsoft Amazon Samsung"
That's a very extensive brand list XD. Until a proper review from GSMA arrives we can't really judge.

On the bright side, if the device dies soon, you can still use the screen as a nightlight, provided it isn't burnt by then :(
