The last Oracle, 17 Aug 2018You've obviously not used a Samsung Flagships since the S S... moreReally? What changed from Note 8 to Note 9 then, except the eye candy and a fix to an obvious battery problem?

Anonymous, 16 Aug 2018Yeah but then we will all want a quick glance screen on the... moreYes I agree it should certainly not just be fancy functionality for the fanciness. So it will most likely be a couple of years away to see something useful in a reasonable price range.

Optimally I see a tri-part device that can be folded BOTH like an "s" and like an "a" to either have one part visible, or to protect the display.

Galaxy Note 9, 17 Aug 2018Many of the sour grapes are from across the fence who envy ... moreWell said lol. I like the fact that some one is going to launch a phone that folds but not so much in that way. Will we see one on these shores. I remember the launch of the Galaxy round but never saw one.

matt99, 17 Aug 2018Pointless, very breakable and now how small will the battery be?The battery will be bigger. because it is foldable . they have twice the Area

Famfung, 17 Aug 2018Looks hella ugly when closed, surface book vibes. Also no h... moreWhile I agree with most of the "why does this thing exist" comments, the headphone jack one still makes me laugh. It's over. It's gone. Accept that relic of the 80's has finally going extinct. No matter how much whining people do it's gone. Mass market studies found it wasn't used enough to justify it's existence. We the enthusiasts are in the minority, thus our opinion on things like that don't matter. The bigger bulk of paying customers are going to assume it's something "new" so it must be better (even if it isn't). Best to just accept it as the standard going forward.

As for the rest of this phone, regardless of who's vision of it we see in a render... I'm going to pass. I get that a folding display like that isn't very rugged, and therefore is not meant for me.

Im pretty sure there will be some early adopters like back then for the LG flex 1 and 2 and the samsung round which then turned into the note edge and the beloved (not be me though) 2d screens or even edged screens of samsung/blackberry and vivo phones. Still I see no need for a foldable phone IF it's not executed like a ZTE Axon M just with no borders in between screens. What for would I need a 7-8" screen if I can't use it with ease? I'd pay 1000$ if there was a small front screen ~4" for texting and everyday tasks, and a second screen on the back that one could use to hold information (weather, active display etc) and that one can fold up for gaming and browsing on 7" (with no border in between). I cant think of people wanting a tablet that is pocketable (the renders show a none pocketable phone) but not to be used as a small daily driver.

All those are not merely ideas but actual working products and commercialized. I say they are definite first. I know ideas can go far back as early 20th centuries so dont go there.

Cant have it super perfected and well polished as if it came from the future. The point Samsung trying to accomplish here is foldable can be done. The same way how Vivo and Oppo proved bezel less can be done but no one satisfied with the moving cam.

What is the point of Folding if it doesn't really 'fold' and is not really compact? Lets focus on the goal here Samsung: 'I want a device compactly usable in folded form and gives me a reasonable increase in screen area when unfolded' . Didn't you make an ad years back promising such a device? and what is this that you have delivered? smh ..

Looks interesting! Although I'd prefer ZTE Axon M style folding, to make the screen more proportional, not so long and narrow.
