Cases for Sony Xperia XZ3 show single camera on the rear

17 August 2018
However, we've previously seen cases that showed a dual camera. Will we see a XZ3 lineup with two different camera setups?

I use BT earphones when exercising or running etc. But otherwise, its a hassle to always charge them, in addition to the phone. For 80% of the time, normal wired 3.5 mm jack earphones will do perfectly. Also, some very expensive high-quality headphones connect through the 3.5 mm jack.

They have other problems than not using the old technology called 3.5mm jack. Btw.. you have 800€ for e new flagship, and you dont have money for proper bt headphones? Wierd.

SixTymes, 19 Aug 2018Fact, if a company can produce an good enough single sensor... moreWhile I agree (in principle) with what you are saying, and in fact am driven mad by the dual-camera setups that some Chinese companies put out (whose only purpose is to tick a box in the consumer mind), the problem here isn't really sensors -- it's actually the inability to zoom optically or change lenses on a mobile. The instant you realize this and add extra lenses to solve the issue, you'll also realize that (as a consequence) you definitely need more than one sensor -or- moving parts which add wait time, bulk, and may break more often.

LIRKER, 19 Aug 2018Yeah, larger internal flash memory do job more conveniently... moreNot OTA, it's OTG, as in using the USB-C connector to plug a flash/pen drive (with the same type of connector). Far more convenient to move stuff around on a regular basis than having to remove the SIM card tray (where the SD card usually is).

Fact, if a company can produce an good enough single sensor, there is no need for multi sensors. Having need for multi sensors is just a way to compensate for lesser quality. SO, Sony I commend you! Ill be buying one of these if it actually rates well. Thank you for developing quality. I hope this really does turn out to be a high-end single sensor camera.

AnonD-632062, 18 Aug 2018Haha, I knew that was going to be said. It's alright. Bo... moreI went ahead and checked if Samsung was registered as a "for praise" or "for fan" enterprise; turns-out it's actually registered as a "for profit" -- the thing they are not getting by not selling those units, at least not as far as the shareholders are concerned.

Reality of the matter is phones without 3.5mm jack are outselling them by big margin, which is very easy to understand why: it's a non issue! If you use the jack them you'll have to plug something that has a cable. In turn, if it has a cable then it has to be long enough to be usable -- adding a small adapter (for free!) to that cable changes nothing to those that need it. It's just a marginally larger cable, if anything it's even better than before.

Same goes for SD card. Larger internal flash memory and USB-C flash drives (powered by USB OTG) already do that job more conveniently than any flimsy and cumbersome tray could ever do.

Sure, that still the cheapest way to do things, hence why cheap phones still have them. Sales numbers don't lie, the people in this segment know better and couldn't care less for those faux problems.

I hope they bring a 3.5mm jack back. I have very a Sony echo cancelling headphones and I can use it with their own products, but it will work fine with a Samsung phone.

I also need a 3.5mm jack to connect my phone to my car.

Anonym, 18 Aug 2018In related news, the Galaxy S9/S9+ is failing to meet sales... moreHaha, I knew that was going to be said.

It's alright. Both the S9+ and the Note9 are pretty good phones, with well-rounded features and highly rated by both tech reviewers and the average customers.

The below average sales are attributed to the S9 being an evolutionary (rather than a revolutionary update) over the already good S8. Plus, people are with-holding their purchase for next year's landmark 10th edition, which is expected to be a huge revolution. The same thing happened to the iPhone7's in anticipation of the iPhone X.

But my point stays the same, Sony smartphones were awesome till they decided to remove fan-favourite features such as the 3.5mm jack. The same thing happened to HTC. And once you go down that slippery path, it's hard to regain customers. Samsung realised their mistake with S6 that removed a lot of features and corrected it with the S7. I hope Sony does the same before it's too late...
