I'm interested in Honor Play but I read somewhere that the audio volume level is pretty low with headphones plugged in, and that it overheats easily. Can anyone tell me how true this is? Thanks.

Joe, 20 Aug 2018Having Treble doesn't actually guarantee better support (Th... moreTrue, but I was making the counterpoint... having an EOL device which doesn't even have Treble is a pretty sure way to not have any OEM support going forward.
No one can actually ensure good OEM support (ie. company may just give-up on smartphones altogether), but one can easily identify the tell-tales of expected bad support. EOL is critical (economical sense/any obligations ends here), Treble *could* just be the last resort lifeline that extended support for a little while -- but it doesn't have it. 3rd-party ROMs are usually good for LG flagships, but a smaller community also means that some variants may be stuck without a custom ROM for a long while (if they ever get it).
Been there, done that. Getting a EOL flaghship (with good 3rd-party ROM support) was a good purchasing strategy until the advent of (1) Xiaomi and the likes; (2) project Treble and it's potential (I do know it's not a silver bullet, may device specific fixes are still required, but it's still promising in the sense future Android versions require it).

Anonym, 19 Aug 2018Amazing offer by Huawei, nevertheless I had to pass it and ... moreCome on emui is not iOS inspired anymore! It's the most stock android Chinese android nowadays. Casual users can't tell them apart. I don't think that's a good thing honestly they're clearly lagging with gestures for example compared to other Chinese roms.

Anonym, 20 Aug 2018Anyone who knows anything about batteries can tell you that... moreHaving Treble doesn't actually guarantee better support (The OEM can still release an Oreo-based device and dump it) and while I'm also a Huawei phone user and I like my device, it's a shame that people will have to look for alternative ways to unlock their devices since having a locked bootloader will stop you from switching to a bleeding-edge stock-like rom when Huawei abandons your device.

Domestoboto, 20 Aug 2018This is a good phone, no doubt. But TBH, you're better off ... moreAnyone who knows anything about batteries can tell you that picking-up old (never used) batteries that have been sitting in a shelf for a long time is the opposite of a smart decision.
Compound that with buying a non-Treble device to which the manufacturer has zero incentive in supporting, and you have a recipe for a dead-end.

Domestoboto, 20 Aug 2018This is a good phone, no doubt. But TBH, you're better off ... moreThe LG V20 is EOL and you won't get any more software updates from LG. At this price the Honor Play just can't be beat. Flagship processor, excellent battery life. Only camera performance is not the best and can be improved upon.

This is a good phone, no doubt. But TBH, you're better off buying an LG V20 - the VERY LAST flagship with an easily user-replaceable battery - and an additional unopened battery for the price of a brand new Honor Play.
With the V20, you can play just about anything (Even the Fortnite Beta), and you don't have to worry about battery degradation and losing charge because you can just replace the power pack in literally seconds.

I can't decide if i should buy Honor Play or Nokia 8, GPU performance seems to be similar, so the CPU, but Nokia have probably better camera, opinions guys? Prices for both are pretty much same here.
