Okay let me get this straight:
They use a DSLR, professional photographers, professional gear, professional actors to show how a random customer can use a mainstream cellular phone?
Shots are for reference only but not representative of what both the customer and the phone can do?
That response from Huawei is more hypocrite than the A8 ad answer.

Whats the big deal... Advertisement world is like that only, all off it...
Features of every product being advertised, not just limited to Mobiles, are exaggerated to being superior.
Yes thats false practice, but they cover it by a tiny disclaimer note in the bottom. "Illustrative purposes only" etc etc

It blows my mind how many people are defending these advertising practices. How is that helping us as consumers? Do you all just want to live in a world where you /assume/ everything is fake until proven otherwise? Jesus christ, I don't.

Every company and every advertising agency lies and beautifies their products. This is how advertising works.

The thing people who believe to be "above ads" need to realize is that, more often than not, an ad isn't meant to showcase a product's capabilities -- everyone (even the ones paying for the ad) already know no-one will take ads at their face value. It's actually about selling a *lifestyle* (or at least the idea of one), so that people who live that life (or desire to have that lifestyle) subconsciously associate a brand (or product) to being a part of that way of life.
Everyone does this and, like it or not, even the most rational person can be influenced by this subconscious association processes within the human brain (read science journals for more information).

All ads are fake, you should never believe them anyways, hnless they specfically state something...
In this case, the guy doesnt even have a phone in his hand lol, and if yoh believe ads as factual, you deserve to get burned

Fake fake fake all of it You know, this also applies to Japan, US, Finland, and Korea as well ;)
Apple used studio setup for their "studio lighting" ad, Canon made compound pictures from other people and camera photos in their ads, Nokia used professional-grade cameras to advertise their OIS back in the days, and should I even keep going?
This is called marketing. As an educated consumer you should do your homework before buying a phone, not just take what the ads throw at you. I've fell for it once but never again.

When Xperia C first came to my country, the few posters said what roughly translates to "take great pictures at a reasonable price" the main feature was it having Exmor. Needless to say it was an utter fail camera. I take everything now with a huge pinch of salt.
The Z line offered one of the best camera experiences in broad daylight, but indoor was a different story. That was until two years ago though, so I'm willing to change my opinion when I see the XZ ones in action :)

Hahaha... last time, there was news about sony a7 advertisement that had been known to be fake photo result from sony camera.
But, these mistakes were purely from the outsource advertisement person who lied to sony. Sony was shock due to this incident.
Now, huawei do it directly (not third party), take selfie with dslr quality or dslr camera??
I almost want to buy this nova 3i because the camera looks promising quad camera... but who knows if the sample photos are taken hy dslr camera..

The DSLR is being used to record the commercial, which is why the actor is holding his hand as if to take a selfie but with no phone in it and the camera is positioned to take the shot that was presented as the selfie.

They do a convincing job of tricking you by having shots of him holding the phone in his hand and selfie stick before zooming into the "selfie camera".

Silviu, 21 Aug 2018That DSLR is there only because it's recording the commerci... moreOn the contrary the way the actor is holding out his hand, they will be showing the shot from the DSLR as if that's the screen of the phone looking back at him (you're viewing him from the Selfie Camera's perspective) and he will be readying himself smiling at the selfie camera on the "phone" before taking a pic, then the pic taken will be shown on the screen but it won't be from his phone but the DSLR.
