The problem may be that good pureview can mean huge camera bump and thicker body otherwice. All thinsg that 99% of customers don`t like. Most people want to have slim phones with a notch...
Hopefully the 1% minority is big enough to release a really good phone camera to these markets...
In anayway it will be interesting what HMD will do with pureview brand!

Interesting, Huawei has half the original Pureview team and got them to make cheap looking ugly renditions, let's see where Foxconn is now headed with a clean slate.

They at first do it for India and China and then half a year later the rest of the world maybe and still not every country will be listed. And when they come to Europe then by that time they are already old and market is full of more interesting devices.

The Scientist Pigeon, 27 Aug 2018Technologies need to be updated. As PureView is a technolo... moreActually all the researches the PureView team (which i respect) did, have been done with Nokia's money, meaning, everything they discovered is owned by Nokia. And nope, a technology like this does not grow old out of a sudden. It is like calling CPU implementation, retarded. Nokia 1020 (no matter what all wannabes say) has a very powerfull camera, the quality that camera brings is just outstanding. And when it come to that, it actually takes a d''' on 99% of the devices that are out right now. Yes is a slow camera. But that was the CPU and the system, that did not support dual CPU's like symbian did. Yes 808 PureView had two CPU's, one dedicated just for the camera. Of course, with the new technoligy, cpu and a bit of research, this technology can be even better, faster and probably with a smaller hump, depending if they will introduce the mighty xenon flash, but i doubt. People are to sheepy to appreciate that, all wannabes see is the hump, not the whole technology behind it.

As PureView is a technology, it needs update or upgrade the thing that was happened by specialists in Nokia from 808 to Lumia Line-up (OIS). Microsoft later used the same technology in their own Lumia line up without any specific improvement.

If this Nokia (HMD Global) follow the already out dated technology without improvement, we won't see any benefit to have PureView.

PureView is a branded technology, se we can call it a name or something if they stay still instead of improvement.

Improvement in camera department must start from specific chips inside to people who program and optimize the tech to bring a significant step toward others. R&D in such department needs specialists from those who were once in PureView team. Does HMD gathered them to progress?

Only the name they got. It won't make any difference. PureView is a software algorithm. I believe those patents are still with Microsoft. Even Pro camera mode is just an interface. Pureview software algorithm and the camera sensor is making the perfect photo.

I hope HMD try to get those patents from Microsoft.
