Very cool that the Philippines is getting it. I remember ordering my $250 Xiaomi Mi 3 from Lazada back on July 17, 2014. Arrived two days later. If the Xiaomi had a microSD slot, I probably would have used it longer. By March of 2016 once I got my $30 Lumia 640 with superior reception and camera, I stopped using it.
I like Xiaomi but MIUI can make Android feel so bloated. Great for customization. Not very fast with updates. Then again, Samsung's skin is worse. Can't really complain for only 300 bucks. You're getting Snapdragon 845 and a plastic back. Looks cool in red. The next cheapest would be the OnePlus 6 at $530.
My next smartphone won't be Chinese though. Only OnePlus I will look at because of Oxygen. My next phone is something I will probably get by 2022. I want Sony if they're still in the mobile industry. If not, then Pixel. Smooth Android software experience matters more to me than cameras.

I just saw Pocophone in a store in Bulgaria. Surprise, surpise! Price is 900 lev (about 450 Euro) for 6GB model. Device looks really really premium, and the plastic on the back is not noticeable (as a positive)

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2018What about Huawei Honor phones? Will they get updates?Again Honor phones normally just get one Android update. It's the case with most midrange phones unless they are using android one or another near stock version. For example the Nokia 7 Plus or the Asus ZenFone Max Pro M1. Both will get 2 updates according to their makers

no, 27 Aug 2018I think it is more expensive in most countries than in indi... moreJust a few observations re the comments made
Reading the other GSMA articles, e.g have listed England rather than the UK, it would appear that the distribution is located only in England, probably just one authorised vendor
Secondly as UK resident, at the time if launch I could not find a physical Nokia 8 Handset in any High Street phone store or the independent Carphonewarehouse, you could order online on contract or handset only from the network or CPW, my point not being in store there is no chance of walking out of a store with a NEW Nokia 8
There are transportation cost involved, complaints that the F1 cost are less in India than halfway across the planet are just that.

Ever since the flagship Snapdragon 845 came out, including the Note 9, these flagship phone benchmark all seem to formally a subset or gang, with Apple topping the pile (what still no microSD, still no Bluetooth) but hey if you're the top well....
Xiaomi started this all with their flash sales selling out in seconds
The above mentioned phones were chosen as the One plus has marketed itself as a flagship killer, it like the Google Pixel is IMO a Android equivalent to the iPhone
The Nokia 8 despite is imo a better choice (not going to argue the point)
It could be given the flagship SoC that Xiaomi do something fantastical during September that upsets the Apple cart,
OK plastic phone at a third of the price of an IPhone, half the price of a Pixel
I can spell Xiaomi, I just don't know how to pronounce it
There won't be an armored pocophone to compete, just a flagship material in 2019
