A certain % of test samples must survive the standards for it to be certified. That doesn't mean they'll do it. Some will fail. It also doesn't mean 1.5m for 30 min (IP68) is the maximum depth (actually pressure) for the maximum time. I personally had my S6 Active take a dunk where it spent about an hour at 6 feet. Both in excess of it's rating.

Not to mention so many of these "Youtube" reviews don't understand the specifications either. The same clowns who insist phones like the Honor 7x or OnePlus 6 have "unofficial" water resistance because of a quick dip in 1" of water. And the phone mostly worked when they pulled it out. Never mind a few days later when the corrosion on internal components finally had it's chance to show up, or the obscure sensor that freaked out and they didn't think to check that.

G7 FIT looking good in specs as midrange phone but design is too old, boring and ugly (almost 2yrs old)

A smartphone reviewer completed a test on YouTube which tested phones with at least an IP67 rating. The Galaxy S9+ and iPhone X stopped working. Huawei P20 Pro had problems. The LG G7 worked, but still had a mic issue. The only phone's IP rating that worked as advertised was Sony's Xperia XZ2. If people are paying for water resistance, they should get full water resistance as standard in rugged devices instead of this bs OEMs sell. Moreover, flagships are a joke in comparison to dedicated rugged phones which can be submerged for longer and in salt water among other things. NFC is a feature I don't even use. And again, it has a notch. And knowing LG, it will be somewhat overpriced. Look at the pricing of some of their midrangers.

For instance, I'd have bought a V35 if it didn't start at 900 USD. Probably should have been 600 USD at most.

Thesis86, 28 Aug 2018The G7 One using an 835 doesn't make sense when the Poco F1... moreThe Pocophone F1 has NEITHER NFC nor an IP Rating (so it will be severely affected by dust and water). Those two features should be no-brainers in 2018.

Also, it's using the very heavy MIUI skin (an outdated one at that).

Anonymous, 28 Aug 2018Depends how you look at it.. its android one.. it has a qua... moreLG has some moments of pricing things well and other times insane pricing. I think this will fall under the insane pricing since they are using the qhd screen. Will be much more expensive than poco I feel.

With each successive Android os, more ram will be useful to help keep things running smoothly. I don't like 4GB options anymore.
In other news, I have been wondering if LG will discontinue using notches next year.
QUESTION: what do you guys think?

Nst2015, 28 Aug 2018Why this ugly notch again and again. Spoils the beauty. Why this ugly notch hater again everywhere???

Sd 835 sd 821 is flagship chipset and powerful. No need to complain why to use older chipset. Even sd808 still rockin.

...the notch is a matter of taste, some love it...some hate it....let's wait to see the final retail price....even with an 1 year old SD 835 its a good option...better perfomance than SD 630-670 & Mediatek chipsets.....the 99% of users does not really care about performance (unless you are a hardcore videogame player)...they only care about social networks & casual emails and take good pictures.....

Pelacur, 28 Aug 2018Customers nowdays more interested notch design. Huawei the... moreIn fairness despite being small it performs quite well. Very competitive. Problem is, if they actually put a bigger one in then it wouldn't just be competitive it would be one of the best.

So yes, opportunity wasted. But not the end of the world.

I wished they re-used the LG G6 body instead of another generic Apple style notch phone. At least it's running Android One, that's a good thing!

That's actually a good strategy by lg regarding the cpu used. The new Snapdragon 660 is only as good as a Snapdragon 810. Using year old flagship cpus is better than using these crappy mid-range cpus

The G7 One using an 835 doesn't make sense when the Poco F1 exists.
