The ZTE Axon 9 Pro runs stock Android, boasts stereo speakers and a large battery

30 August 2018
The screen is still an AMOLED, but it doesn't have Axon 7's QHD resolution. The price isn't like that of the 7 either.

Stop doing notches if you're going to have a big chin

Headphone jack is a part of those things, like NFC for some people, or wireless charging for some other. A "complete package" will have them all, so everyone can choose what they want to use.
Axon 9 is definitely not a complete package.

People will simply boycott ZTE for the missing essential feature (headphone jack) by not pre-ordering Axon 9 Pro. Notch, however may vary by different people.

While these specs are nice, the design leaves something to be desired. I was hoping there would be the Iceberg design

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Not that great. One plus is better. Actually, this is better, except for design. Front facing stereo speakers, waterproofing, wireless charging, and a big fat battery. OnePlus has a 3.5 mm headphone jack and a smaller notch

Sad to see ZTE has joined the likes of Apple's "COURAGE" cult of dropping the essential feature called the headphone jack and adding a notch.

Those who care about things like notches & audio jacks and those who don't. The point being that the lack of audio jack won't bother half of us (myself included).

Clearly you care about the headphone jack, so this phone is not for you. It's that simple.

You know what, ZTE? You have just made the HTC U12 Life sounds better already, since it brings back the jack and stays notch-free.

This is a far cry from the Axon 7, a true flagship-killer back then...

650€? Somebody smoked a lot of good weed. In time when Pocoohone will be about 300€ in Europe and while Mi8 and SE are dropping near 300/250€, ZTE pulls this stunt.
Even if everything is working stellar on this device, for this money it cannot be recommended to anyone. Total miss!

Axon 7 was kind of unique, with Dolby Atmos, stereo speakers and superior headphone audio. Axon 9 is just a miserable copy of other flagships, with a too high price tag.
Thanks ZTE, but that's too little, too late.

at a 650 EUR price tag, i'd buy an OP6 instead any day. and if this appears in brick and mortar stores, outside OnePlus' reach, it's probably gonna have a hard time competing with Samsung and Huawei

very dissapointed too, I was hoping for 3,5mm jack paired with some good up to date 2Vrms DAC, to be some good competition to LG.. Now I see just another generic brick..
Axon 9 should have been skipped together with 8..

Oh my goodness, they really added salt to the wound on this one didn't they? No headphone Jack, no availability for the US, a notch, no front facing stereo speakers, but instead, we get pseudo stereo speakers, and the price doesn't do it justice. I'm severely disappointed.

Could have been amazing and pricing also could have been better competitive.
Such amazing specs I tell you. Everything is cool but when I read "Sadly, no 3.5 mm headphone jack", I dropped it.
