if you look closely this looks more like the whole screen slides of a base....like the HTC phones in the 2010's when the keyboard would slide from the screen

Slider is one thing i(and many people i guess) are really ok about, as long as it just the selfie cam
Since many people really don't take selfie that much and some won't even bother to know the iq of the selfie cam

Lead2XL, 30 Aug 2018This must be a phony photo, the top bezel is big enough to ... moreIt's a slider design. Adjust your contrast levels on your display so you can see the lines... :)
I actually like this type of slider design more than Oppo's. This looks like a manual slider so no motors that will eventually stop working. With a nicely tuned slide and click sound this could be a very interesting phone.

This must be a phony photo, the top bezel is big enough to have a camera. In this image the top bezel is thicker than on the MiX 2S, which can't be right.

Anonymous, 30 Aug 2018Why would they do this? They're more comfortable in releas... moreThe reason why Samsung and Apple look like they slow recently compared to the Chinese companies is simple... they are bigger than them and have a larger user base that could buy the phone... So they have to make sure a tech is 100% reliable and at the cheapest so that.. their fans would not have an issue and it won't affect price more.. be honest how many people would you ever see with the vivo Nex or oppo find x not many. So they can focus on making a couple of thousands with problems that may occur a year later.. but Apple and Samsung can't cause they have to sell millions and the year later the whole internet would be flooded insulting the durability of their phones...

Don't solve a problem and you know you are creating another.

I prefer to have the SD card and the headphone port, over having that full panel display.

Plus, if they plan to make a slider without water resistance, then make the back panel removable for easy battery access. Why dont these companies do something right for their customers.

AnonD-771260, 30 Aug 2018Chinese companies trying to start new trend - get rid of no... moreSamsung is actually have a different plan of making a in display selfie camera.

by looking good at the picture, it looks like that the Mix 3 consists of two parts, a front and a back with sliders in between, this could be a great solution from my point of view to the discussion that's going, about how long can the "sliders" handle the work

AnonD-771260, 30 Aug 2018Chinese companies trying to start new trend - get rid of no... moreWhy would they do this? They're more comfortable in releasing the same phones for many years to increase profit margin without doing any additional R&D. The only ones who are innovating right now are the Chinese.

AnonD-771260, 30 Aug 2018Chinese companies trying to start new trend - get rid of no... moreBut it will force them to start making tech that removes the need for sliders. I know Samsung has the tech, but ever since the Note 7, they are being really conservative.

Chinese companies trying to start new trend - get rid of notch and use sliding camera.
Interesting idea but not sure how good it will work in longterm and how practical is it (in pockets etc).
But I'm pretty sure that apple and Samsung will not do this.

Kiyasuriin, 30 Aug 2018Interesting concept. I have to admit. But I guess it's a no... moreIf the front and back panel are housed separately and connected with a sliding pogo connector, the separate housings can have an IP68 rating.

Interesting concept. I have to admit. But I guess it's a no go. There's no water resistance applyable.

This is NOT like the Oppo Find X. If you look at the bottom of the Mi Mix 3, you can see that the entire back panel slides up. By the looks of it, it would also not be motorized.
Rather it looks like the Doogee MIX 4 concept phone, but with more class.

Xiaomi don't know anything than copying others...

                                    No, just no.

If only the selfie camera is contained in the slider and the main camera is always available l, this will be my next phone.

That bottom bezel is almost non-existent. By far the highest STB ratio yet. This phone should be a hit among the bezel-less fans.
