The Pocophone F1 can't stream HD video from Netflix, Hulu or Amazon as it turns out

Actually, it's not limited to Xiaomi's phones. Practically ALL China made phones (most of Huawei's phones except those having official US releases, All Xiaomi phones, All Oppo phones, All Vivo phones and all Oneplus phones) not released officially for the US Market can't stream or play offline HD videos, be it from Netflix, Hulu, Amazon or Google Play Movies. On the other hand, most (if not all) of Samsung, LG, Sony and Asus phones and of course Google's own Pixel phones can stream HD content. It's a DRM issue dictated by Hollywood /US movie studios.

Who the hell watches movies and TV series on mobile. I'm so amused by the fact that people can actually enjoy movies on a tiny display, hell even a tablet does not cut out for me.

DaXiong, 31 Aug 2018The "problem" is that you can get S7 Edge, S8(+), Note 8 et... moreWell, here in India, Xiaomi LTE support is as good as others. I can stream a youtube video in 1080p without any buffer on my Redmi Note 4 and I don't know anyone who does any heavier "data" hungry task than that. So yes, no issues with LTE.
The S7 Edge (with outdated hardware in most aspects and no future support) still costs 30k (for 32 gig storage, 4 gig RAM), that too only during sale days, against the 6/64 Poco's 21k.
Also, don't you think it is stupid to buy a 2.5 year old flagship with hardly any software support left, even if it costs the same, just so you can stream HD videos on Netflix on a 5.5" screen?
And obviously, S8+ and Note8, (just an educated guess) are still nowhere near the Poco's price in any market out there (obviously, I am talking about unlocked variants, because Xiaomis aren't available with carriers anywhere I guess).

Equipped with the faster processor but in actual fact, it can only do so little. I read even Huawei P20 Pro can't stream HD Nextflix too. Is it a common thing for all China branded phones?

nik.007, 31 Aug 2018So does this mean you pay INR 68k for a Note9, just because... moreThe "problem" is that you can get S7 Edge, S8(+), Note 8 etc close to the price of a Pocophone F1. Phones that actually have better screens, Widevine L1 and proper LTE/Carrier aggregation support etc.

LTE-A, 4-Band carrier aggregation, Cat.16/13 (1Gbps/... moreJust like Widevine L1 that isn't implemented, LTE 4-band carrier aggregation probably isn't properly implemented for European bands either (Same on other Xiaomi phones). And to be clear, not even most 2-band carrier aggregation works properly on Xiaomi phones in Europe.
So for 4G/LTE expect worse performance, worse stablity and worse coverage than flagship phones from other companies that actually put the time and money to implement all the features of the hardware.

At least 90% pocophone users do not pay for Netflix, so it does not matter at all. and why to pay Netflix when you can get all of the content free on torrent which you even can't get by paying due to region shit. My Nokia 7 Plus supports L1, but I do not care.
PocoPhone's cost is $300 while other flagships cost around $700 at least. why shouldn't I buy F1 in $300 and a 4K LED for $300 and save $100 if I can't live without Netflix?

So does this mean you pay INR 68k for a Note9, just because you can stream HD content on a 6" display, for which, you are already paying 800 INR a month (that's 19,200 for 2 years, the average life of a phone). That's stupid, clearly.
Better, you get a Poco for 21k, and a 43" Mi TV 4A for 23k, and your problem is solved!
Even buying the 4k 55" model will set you back by 66k, which is still less than Note9.

AhmedShaikh, 31 Aug 2018I didn't think I'd be saying this, but after seeing how Chi... moreSo you mean Samsung, Google, Apple does not have minor bugs?
Let me pop your bubble, but ALL phones have minor bugs, the cheap chinese ones and the expensive "non-chinese" ones. Even your beloved Oneplus has bugs. Bugs are in every computing device, and from my use of MIUI since well over a year, and considering my past experience with Sammy & HTC ("non-chinese" expensive brands), I find MIUI more stable than those. Though still I won't flat out say that it is totally bug free, because, again, every device has bugs.
Also, Xiaomi is probably the only brand providing official software support to it's 4 year old devices (even lower end) regularly.

Domestoboto, 31 Aug 2018Except a lot of people are NOT FINE paying for top quality ... moreWell people are most welcome to pay double or triple the cost of poco f1 and buy a Samsung or Sony flagship to watch netflix on a tiny screen :)
I am a poco user and while I am surprised about this and i am a netflix ultra hd subscriber it doesn't affect me since I don't find watching movies on a tiny screen to be a very nice experience.
