AnonD-598579, 02 Sep 2018Maybe you are referring to the S9+, because the S9 has the ... moreThe S9 has the better screen. Which is a pretty good argument when buying phones in the same price range (well, you can get the S9 for much less than 800 if we compare Amazon prices). It's also a lot smaller and lighter despite not having a much smaller screen. Plus little things like the iris scanner...
Yeah, Samsung released one a week ago. With a lot more RAM and storage to boost its performance. And it is available. This Sony phone won't be available until the middle of October. Almost in time for Qualcomm to announce their next gen processors.
...and you get a headphone jack in that smaller S9 package! \o/

Stan, 02 Sep 2018I think its the iPhone X which really set the trend of high... moreRumour has it that the X did not sell particularly well. That they're stuck with more than half of the ones they produced, which is why they stopped producing new ones almost half a year ago. Rumour has it that the s model will be at least 100 bucks cheaper because of that.
So, if you think Sony, who already doesn't sell anything outside Japan can sell slightly outdated flagships up towards those prices, me thinks you're being a bit too optimistic about that.

Dientesdesierra, 01 Sep 2018 so I want an obsolete Jack 3.5 if I have
WH-1000XM3 free lol Obsolete= a new tech has emerged that is better than the older one in most if not every aspect.
Wireless audio still has very poor latency and thus cannot replace wired audio. 3.5mm jack is far from obsolete

AnonD-598579, 02 Sep 2018Read about Bluetooth technology and how advanced it got in ... more1. internal space have nothing to do with phone. you can put minijack to even 5mm thick phone and make it even waterproof.
2. Sound quality is not main reason for hate of BT headphones, its convenience and time. BT headphones maybe reached point of good sound quality but because they need charging, they get annoying, especially when you actually spend time listening to music, not just use them once per day. Time and additional requirements of BT headphones are just bad compared to minijack, that not only STILL give you better sound quality, but its just easier to use.
Learn that just because you and few people in your surrounding dont mind not having minijack, it doesnt mean that everyone else can deal with it.
Its like saying that wall plug is just too big,,, we should replace it with something smaller.... you can but you not gonna do that, because it work perfectly, just like 3.5 jack. Cable is not a problem here, its just made up problem to sell more stuff to users(dongles and BT headphones). Its all about marketing not user.

AnonD-598579, 02 Sep 2018Read about Bluetooth technology and how advanced it got in ... moreWired headphones=
-Another expensive device with limited life time (sealed battery)
-High latency (no go for games or talking, or face poor quality audio)
-Lossless codec support is only on the more expensive models
-Makes another device to keep charged
Wired headphones=
-Always ready to use
-Will only die when you break it and not because of normal usage
-High quality, ultra low latency audio at all times
-True lossless audio
-No additional codec limitations,; if your device knows it, it works.

Lets hope this phone does not throttle like previous sony phones have. So far the marketing department has not told us anything about the cooling. Pocophone has extensive cooling so I expect nothing less from twice the price.

Too little too late, 02 Sep 2018I read these comments and I can not understand why anyone w... moreYou can't understand? Let me try to explain it to you, then: because that's what we want. I want to buy what I want. Not want YOU want. Not what YOU think will be good for me. SD845 is at the moment the best chipset out there. Will there be soon a better? Yes. Will after that be an even better? Yes. And after that even better. And after that ... Should i wait forever, cos there will always be a "soon new and better will come out"? According to you, yes.
While Sony were using LCDs, haters were complaining that it's not an OLED. Now, when it's OLED, you're complaining that it will cost double to replace it. What do you people want at all?
If you're happy with your phone, good. Why can't you understand that i'm happy with my phone too, cos it fits in my pocket, it doesn't have a a notch, it doesn't have 27 cameras, and it doesn't have "AI" which will think instead of me? Is it so hard?

I read these comments and I can not understand why anyone would defend Sonys decision to sell a soon to be obsolete processor with only 4/64gb for 799 eur. If the phone came in at spring the price would have been more justifiable but now that Xiaomi is dumping their sd845 stock to cheap pocophones before sd855 launch the xz3 pricing is killing its own sales.
I get it that people who dont check any of the specs before purchase might fall for these typical sub 500 eur specs but when fans argue with the original argument of why buy low-spec Sony flagship and move talking points to list of all the propietary charging tech and other sony branded features they are getting that are the same as other phone manufacturers make I laugh.
Best battery is and will forever be the one that user CAN replace without screwdriver.
Best screen is not the one marketing department tells you, but the one that fits your needs size-wise and is cheap and easy to replace when the expected drop happens and the screen cracks. I bet the new screen costs double to replace compared to sonys previous phones.
I wish all android manufacturers would stick to some common charging tech atleast on snapdragon chipsets so if you need charge fast you are not out of luck without your own charger.
Samsung releases their phones when the new chipset is available so the high pricing is somewhat understandable as the market is not yet flooded with cheap phones with same chipset and lesser features. Sony comes late to party with no new features while removing old classic ones like side mounted finger print sensor and headphone jack.
Why do you defend Sony after two years of missing the markets expectations for flagship phones? Dont tell about software because Sony is leaving many not so old phones without android pie update just like others do.

[deleted post]It's not fair to link being poor with radio or headphone jacks.
When I bought my 2011 Hyundai i10 it had the standard stereo which has no auxiliary. I have a strict "no phone" driving policy so no hands-free even, so it's not that I can't buy it, it's that I don't use it.
So I use a radio transmitter to link my phone through Bluetooth or auxiliary which didn't cost a lot.
People's usage differ whether poor or rich. They have the right to wish a certain phone fit them better because it means they really like it.

But anyway, you are complaining about Sony using the S845, but just 2 weeks ago Samsung released Note 9 with the same chipset but 1000$ price, so?
Also, the 4GB ram is not really low standard if you do a good management of the RAM. Google Pixel 3 will come with the same amount and will cost even more. Having 6G ram on paper, but have a lag experience just because of poor RAM management or tons of bloatware is not ok.

TPAA, 02 Sep 2018It does not even have a 3.5mm jack. So I need to use an ada... moreRead about Bluetooth technology and how advanced it got in the last few years. It's on the same level now. Yeah, maybe if you are an audiophile with 500$ wired headphones, I get it. But if you are listening music on some cheap wired headphones that cost 20$ you will not see any difference at all.
So why dislike a phone that is not using 3.5mm jack anymore? Maybe instead of that they will utilise the internal space for better cooling system or bigger battery, which are far more important than a stupid 3.5mm jack..
